We are working with our client Boys & Girls Club of Southern Maine in seeking a Director of Advancement to be based in the Portland, Maine office.

Requirements of the Director of Advancement:

  • 10 years of leadership experience with resource development and implementation of an Advancement Plan.
  • Strong understanding of marketing, social media, and communications.
  • Goal-oriented, with strong initiative and creative problem-solving skills.
  • Team leadership experience.
  • Ability to represent the organization at public engagement events.
  • Strong achievement orientation with exceptional time management skills.
  • Unquestioned integrity and commitment to BGCSM’s mission and values

Responsibilities of the Director of Advancement:

  • Partner with the CEO and leadership staff to plan, execute, lead, and manage a comprehensive effort to grow annual operating revenue, strengthening current funding from private sources and relentlessly developing new and more diverse sources of revenue.
  • Direct a growing individual, corporate, and foundations fundraising program, and oversee government funding applications and growth.
  • Manage the resource development, marketing & communications team.
  • Build fully integrated philanthropy across the organization and in local communities where we operate.
  • Plan for and implement major gifts and planned giving programs.
  • Actively contribute to building/supporting a diverse, equitable, and inclusive organizational culture.
  • Communicate and support relationships with stakeholders, Board of Directors, and outside partners.

At Boys & Girls Clubs of Southern Maine , our mission is to inspire and enable all young people to realize their full potential as responsible, caring, and productive citizens. We provide a safe place, caring mentors, and a full range of expanded learning opportunities for children and teens ages 6-18. We serve nearly 3,000 youth across 9 locations in Southern Maine. We have been a part of Southern Maine's history since our founding in 1909.
