We’re now hiring a Sanitation Manager for Tuffy’s Pet Foods, to manage and oversee all sanitation needs at Tuffy’s. This position requires overarching responsibility for strategy, planning, staffing, execution and documentation of plantwide cleaning, housekeeping, sanitation and pest control. A successful candidate will create and maintain effective programs with meticulous attention to detail, positive engagement and coaching with team & peers, and depth of insight into cleaning methods, processes and chemical aids. Essential Duties: 

  • Responsible for leadership and accountability of imbedded Sanitation Team and contracted partners
  • Final oversight in all matters of Sanitation Dept – structure, staffing, scheduling, budgeting, productivity, recognition and discipline
  • Responsible for updates and maintenance of Master Sanitation Schedule
  • Ensure that sanitation work instructions, SSOPs, documentation and forms are accurate and current
  • Develop & execute mitigation plans for micro occurrences and complete documentation
  • Utilize swabbing and data collection as a means of proactive & reactive cleaning, sanitizing and mitigation strategies
  • Ensure the proper and timely care of all processing equipment and building structure according to sanitation standard operating procedures and Master Sanitation Schedule
  • Fluent in the assembly and disassembly of equipment and systems
  • Perform chemical concentration testing
  • Responsible for all aspects of department safety and safe practices
  • Administrate employee training on SSOPs, GMPs, and micro mitigation strategies
  • Direct purchasing and inventory for sanitation department
  • Serve as key participant in oversight of plant pest control program
  • Consult peer departments, plant supervisors, and subordinate groups on recommended methods, procedures and tools for specific objectives and tasks
  • Collaborate closely with Maintenance dept on repair requests, project timing and Post-work mitigations
  • Grow and maintain key partnerships with 3rd party Chemical, Pest Control & Contract Labor providers
  • Make recommendations for facility & department capital/expense improvements

Qualifications

  • 2-4 year degree in Operations Mgmt, Biology, Food Science, Chemistry or related disciplines; Or equivalent field experience in food facility sanitation
  • 3-5 years of experience in a leadership position
  • Direct experience in a food manufacturing facility; pet food manufacturing environment preferred
  • Direct experience with plant sanitation practices, methods and strategies
  • Knowledge and understanding of Food Safety & Quality, Good Manufacturing Practices & CCPs
  • Knowledge and experience with FDA/USDA regulations and compliance
  • Proven track record in team building, goal setting/attainment, and continuous improvement
  • Leadership skills to identify and improve safety, food safety, quality, efficiency and personnel. 
  • Excellent communication and organization skills 
  • Knowledge and experience with pest control 
  • Ability to lead and motivate a diverse workforce through training, coaching, and mentoring
  • Team player that leads by example

Compensation

Base wage starting at $75,000 and increasing based on experience, also includes eligibility for aggressive incentive plan.
