Company DescriptionKlassic Recruiting and Machen McChesney, LLP are partnering together in a search for a Senior Tax Accountant for their Auburn - Opelika, AL location.Position Purpose:Senior accountants are given a variety of accounting, auditing and tax assignments under the supervision of other personnel. Outside of tax season, a senior accountant will begin focusing on an area of specialization in either audit or tax. Performance is measured based on the quality of work, application of accounting knowledge, and ability to meet time constraints.Job DescriptionPosition Reports To:Supervisor and Manager positionsPosition Responsibilities:The primary responsibilities of the Senior Accountant are:Preparation of individual and business tax returnsPreparation of financial statementsPerform audit procedures as assigned by supervisors/managersBookkeeping and client write-up monthly/yearlyPerform specific tasks for clients as assigned by supervisor (ex. contractor’s license)Supervise/mentor staff accountants on small jobsPlanning and performing small auditsPerform initial review procedures on staff accountant workResearchQualificationsSkills and Education Required:The skills and education required for this position are:Bachelor’s degree in accounting with desire to pursue CPA certificateRequires 1 to 3 years experience in public accountingProficiency with computer and ability to learn various computer programsGood written and verbal communication skills;Good research skillsPositive, can-do attitude with willingness to “dig in” and get the work doneBasic understanding, comprehension, and ability to articulate auditing, accounting and tax conceptsDeveloping or emerging leadership skillsProficiency in Microsoft Word and ExcelMeasures of Success:The Senior Accountant will be deemed to have been successful when he or she has:Completed the engagements assigned to him/her with minimal supervisionReceived positive feedback from his/her clients and supervisorsTaken “ownership” of assigned projectsExhibited leadership and successful supervision of othersJob Type: Full-timeRequired education:Bachelor'sRequired experience:Auditing: 1 yearPublic Accounting: 3 yearsTax Accounting: 1 yearAdditional InformationAll your information will be kept confidential according to EEO guidelines.
