KLAMATH HEALTH PARTNERSHIP is Hiring a Lead Accounting Specialist Near Klamath Falls, OR

Klamath Health Partnership, Inc., (KHP) is a Federally Qualified Health Center whose mission is to provide accessible, quality-driven, responsive, patient-centered health services to the community, with an emphasis on those who need us most. Staffed by a comprehensive team of over 50 health professionals and over 100 support personnel, KHP is the second largest healthcare provider in the Klamath Basin.

Klamath Health Partnership, Inc., is hiring a passionate and mission-driven Lead Accounting Specialist that will work within our Finance office in the Klamath Health Partnership Administrative building.

Position Summary: The Lead Accounting Specialist is primarily responsible for providing highly complex clerical and accounting support work according to generally accepted standard accounting principles, established procedures, departmental guidelines, and regulatory requirements applicable to KHP. Responsibilities include maintaining KHP bookkeeping policies, audit of business ledgers, organization of invoices, collaboration with billing in support of collection processes for past-due and aged billing accounts. Administratively support Controller with financial statements preparation and month-end management reporting; maintenance of the general ledger; audit preparation and management; and support with budget-to-actual variance reporting.

Supervision: The Lead Accounting Specialist reports directly to the Controller

Minimum Qualification:

  • Associate degree
  • Two (2) years progressively responsible experience performing complex financial accounting.
  • Experience with automated financial management, general ledger, and reporting systems.
  • An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Management, or Finance
  • Experience in a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) finance environment
  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented
  • Able to complete tasks accurately and timely with minimal supervision
  • Able to work collaboratively within a team environment
  • Able to meet set performance targets and deadlines
  • Communicates effectively with internal and external customers

Job Responsibilities:

Accounting and Financial Reporting

  • Reconcile all balance sheet accounts monthly and prepare journal entries as needed.
  • Reconcile bank accounts monthly and produce cash balance and transaction reports.
  • Record semi-monthly payroll entries and all related payroll-related accruals.
  • Generate age analysis and review AR aging to ensure compliance.
  • Support preparation of business and payroll taxes.
  • Analyze budget-to-actual variances and summarize results for the month.
  • Assist the Controller in developing operating and capital budgets by providing historical financial reports and supporting schedules.
  • Maintain all Accounts Receivable financial files.

Audit and Compliance

  • Support Controller in ensuring timely and accurate completion of all supporting documentation and managing auditor’s requests during fieldwork.
  • Assist Controller in completion of the 990-tax return.
  • Support/Assist Controller in all annual audit preparation and reporting.

Grant Accounting and Federal Reporting

  • Support the maintenance of general ledger accounting for all grants and the production of timely federal reporting.
  • Assist in ensuring the draw down of federal funds is done timely and according to policy.
  • Assist in preparation of invoices to grantors as required.
  • Support completion of financial sections of annual UDS reporting by February 15th each year.
