Description
The Business/Finance Controller is responsible for preparing monthly financials, budgets, financial analysis. As well as implementing best practices in both accounting and operational practices; supporting sales development with rate builds and analysis and working with Operational Managers and on various projects as assigned by the V.P. Finance. This position is currently supporting a transportation and logistic company, however the role may be transferrable to other business units within the organization based on needs and best fit.
A successful candidate will have a positive and professional approach to their work as well as a high degree of integrity and work ethic. The position requires working within deadlines, prioritizing work/tasks and managing change on a regular basis. Critical thinking, intellectual curiosity and a "servant-leader" management style will be important factors to the success of the person filling this role.
Duties and Responsibilities

• Prepare all monthly financial statements including posting of journal entries.
• Maintain and perform account reconciliation and account analyses.
• Prepare budgets and forecasting.
• Help Operations with costs reduction and profitability analysis by operation, by customer.
• Work with V.P. and other personnel to develop rates for customers
• Assist in contract negotiations.
• Other functions as required including Cash Management, Accounting Systems, Tax compliance and planning etc.
• Engage in annual insurance policy review/procurement process.
• Supervise one indirect report supporting the above functions.

Basic Job Skills and Knowledge

• High proficiency with MS Office suit (Word, Excel, Outlook, Power point)
• Experience with server-based accounting software.
• Excellent inter-personal, communication and problem-solving skills.
• Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting or related field required, Master's degree or equivalent certification a plus.
• Background in all aspects of accounting including A/P, A/R, G/L, Cost accounting, forecasting, financial budgeting, and analysis.
• Proven written communication skills and documentation of policies and procedures.
• Working with various levels of personnel including senior management.
