On-Call Mental Health Professional - Adult Inpatient Unit

Hiring Range: $32.53– $40.67 Per Hour

Up To $6.00/HrIn Additional Shift Differentials

Kitsap Mental Health Services (KMHS) is seeking an On-Call Mental Health Professional to provide inpatient therapeutic psychosocial care for voluntary and involuntary youth admitted to the Adult Inpatient Unit. In this role, you will play a key part in the treatment process, ensuring psycho-therapeutic care, representation of the unit in Kitsap County Superior Court, and responsibility for an array of agency and unit-based work practices to ensure unit safety and effective practices.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Complete all required documentation for newly admitted clients in a timely manner, developing cooperative relationships with collateral contacts for effective individualized treatment.
  • Develop treatment plans for voluntary and involuntary residents, incorporating relevant data from prescriber’s history and nursing plans of care.
  • Collaborate with the multi-disciplinary treatment team to help develop and implement meaningful treatment plans for clients, ensuring plans are individualized and address unmet acute needs.
  • Participate in a collaborative leadership role with the Treatment Team, advocating for the psychiatric and social needs of the client, providing consultation to the physician/ARNP, and serving as a resource for clinical practice and mental health resources.
  • Develop discharge plans for residents, arrange and document follow-up appointments, and work with referral sources to ensure appropriate responsibility for care.
  • Provide individual, group, and family therapy services, maintaining and submitting complete, accurate, and timely records to meet regulatory, agency, and funding source requirements.
  • Complete screenings, assessments, intakes, and discharges, arranging after-care services for clients.
  • Obtain information from families regarding history, court involvement, finances, or discharge planning.
  • Complete and sign ITA documents for court, appear in court as needed, and prepare documentation and testimony for Kitsap County Superior Court mental health hearings.
  • Complete crisis stabilization training to participate in managing assaultive clients on the unit.
  • Routinely assess client and staff safety, taking effective corrective action and duty to warn notifications when indicated.
  • Disclose limited client information as necessary, adhering to HIPAA privacy and security standards.
  • In addition to the above, perform any other responsibilities appropriate to the position and not specifically listed in the job description.

Minimum Qualifications:

EDUCATION:Master’s Degree in Psychology, social services, or behavioral health field or must meet waiver criteria of RCW 71.24.260.

EXPERIENCE: Experienced (minimum 2 years of job-related experience)

Two years of postgraduate, documented, supervised clinical experience in providing services to individuals and families. An associate license (LMHC-A, LMFT-A, LICSW-A) obtained within 60 days of employment considered in lieu of a Master’s Degree with two years appropriate clinical experience.

LICENSURE: Agency Affiliated Counselor Registration. Must meet and maintain the definition of a Mental Health Professional as defined in WAC 388-877-0500. Must maintain a Washington State Department of Health license in good standing.

Preferred Qualifications:

EXPERIENCE:Experience in providing services to youth and families; experience in therapeutic residential treatment setting. Substance Abuse Disorders treatment knowledge and experience necessary with certification. Qualified as Child Mental Health Specialist.
