Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated Maintenance Technician to coordinate/implement maintenance activities in our commercial manufacturing facility in Frederick, Maryland. This position will provide support to the facilities and engineering team and assist in the operation and maintenance of the company’s facility and equipment for production of cell-based therapeutics.

** Must be flexible to work potentially either shift:

4pm-230am: Sunday to Wednesday or Wednesday to Saturday

8pm-630am: Sunday to Wednesday or Wednesday to Saturday

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Support process equipment for multi vector cell therapy facility for MSAT, Manufacturing, QC Micro and QC Analytical functions.
• Perform monitoring and troubleshooting of all EMS/BMS alerts and alarms to ensure the facilities, equipment and environmental systems are within specified ranges and operating systems are functioning properly.
• Observes deviations from systems specifications and works with Facilities staff to correct or resolve these discrepancies.
• Performs basic tasks associated with the installation, maintenance, and repairs of manufacturing and QC laboratory equipment.
• Independently able to identify, locates and diagnoses failure, replaces defective components/parts and performs basic troubleshooting using standard electronic equipment, detailed drawings, diagrams, sketches, specifications, prints, manuals, and verbal and/or written instructions.
• Maintain accurate records always keeping equipment and systems cGMP compliant.
• Uses a variety of hand, power and test tools and equipment.
• Performs routine and non-routine general maintenance tasks as designated by supervisor, to include any or all the following areas: facilities, process equipment, utility equipment; HVAC; Purified water; product storage; welding, fabricating, construction among others.
• Coordinate/Plan and implements maintenance on critical systems/equipment with supervisor.
• Creates or revises standard operating procedures, work plant templates or job plans.
• Performs multi-shift work as required.
• Maintain a safe work environment; work in a safe manner following all safety SOP’s and wear Personal Protective Equipment as required.
• Is required to respond to emergency notifications via phone.
• Ensure maintenance work orders are being completed on time while adhering to operational standards.
• Possesses a mechanical and electrical acumen including HVAC, facilities utilities, P&ID’s, schematics, and equipment specifications.
• Additional duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications:

• Master’s OR
• Bachelor’s and 2 years of Maintenance experience OR
• Associate and 4 years of Maintenance experience OR
• High School Diploma/GED and 5 years of Maintenance experience

Preferred Qualifications:

• Ability to read blueprints, control drawings and logic controls.
• Basic concepts of HVAC and ability to understand psychometric charts.
• Ability to install relays and run wiring.
• Ability to use temperature and relative humidity meters, data loggers, electrical volt and amp meters
• Self-starter with superior analysis and problem-solving skills ranging from simple to complex situations.
• Be forward thinking the ability to work with system & technical metrics, identify variances & deficiencies while improving maintenance program and performance.
• Be proficient in MS Office.
• Possess good communications skills.
• Must have a thorough work ethic and demonstrate dependability and timeliness.
• Willingness to put internal customer needs first.
• Have a high energy level and a positive outlook coupled with the requisite “can do” attitude and a willingness to do what it takes to achieve personal and organizational goals and overcome obstacles

The salary range for this position is: $78,455.00 - $101,530.00. Gilead considers a variety of factors when determining base compensation, including experience, qualifications, and geographic location. These considerations mean actual compensation will vary. This position may also be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, discretionary stock-based long-term incentives (eligibility may vary based on role), paid time off, and a benefits package.
