Position Summary

Finalize production process by utilizing water polisher to smooth the stone as to be ready for installation

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
  1. Set up machine to grindstone to smooth finish or polish stone to lustrous finish.
  2. Selects grinding or polishing wheels according to type of stone, finish specified, or step in finishing process.
  3. Moves arm of machine over wheel attaches wheel to spindle with bolt or latch.
  4. Pushes levers to start machine guides rotating wheel over surface of stone by hand, observing puddles of water on stone to detect uneven areas.
  5. Washes stone, using hose, and changes abrasive or wheel as grinding or polishing progresses to surface stone according to specifications.
  6. May grind polish curved or irregular stone surfaces, using portable polisher.
  7. May fill cracks or imperfections in stone with wax that matches color of stone.
  8. May place, align, and level stone on machine bed.
  9. Maintains a clean and safe work environment, while following company policies and procedures, particularly related to safety.

General physical requirement
Heavy work: Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Physical Activities
Lifting: Raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position-to-position.
Pushing: Using upper extremities to press against something with steady force in order to thrust forward, downward or outward.
Pulling: Using upper extremities to exert force in order to draw, drag, haul or tug objects in a sustained motion.
Reaching: Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.
Repetitive Motions: Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
Standing: Particularly for sustained periods of time.
Visual Acuity
The worker is required to have visual acuity to perform an activity such as: operating machines such as lathes, drill presses, power saws and mills where the seeing job is at or within arm's reach; performing mechanical or skilled trades tasks of a non-repetitive nature such as carpenters, technicians, service people, plumbers, painters, mechanics, etc.
Working Condition
The worker is subject to inside environmental conditions: Protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes.
The worker is subject to noise: There is sufficient noise to cause worker to shout in order to be heard above the ambient noise level.
The worker is subject to hazards.
