DESIGNER - Integrated Systems

Kirkegaard is seeking an Audio and Video expert currently working or interested in design. The ideal candidate will have experience working in live performance audio production, video distribution (projection and live video), theatrical communications systems, and a strong desire to design for the performing arts. A drive to learn and a commitment to being a collaborative, efficient, and effective member both internally and externally are musts.

The position location is Atlanta with opportunities for remote work. Responsibilities include:

  • Providing subject matter expertise in audio, video, and control systems to support the creation of cost-effective and timely design solutions, tailored to the users and client needs
  • Coordinating work with internal team members, architects, engineers, theater consultants, and other disciplines in the built environment
  • Developing and delivering best-in-class AV systems and infrastructure drawings, details, specifications, and other construction documents
  • Managing construction administration by reviewing and responding to submittals and RFI’s, in coordination with the design and construction teams
  • Observing construction and installation for adherence to the design and Kirkegaard’s established best practices
  • Commissioning of AV systems at completion to ensure that work meets Kirkegaard standards and that clients are equipped with the necessary tools and information for operation
  • Serving as a technical guide and mentor to junior designers and interns
  • Participating in industry events and conferences to contribute to the business and the technical field broadly

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A minimum of seven years of experience in production, AV design, consulting, or and equivalent industry.
  • Proven knowledge of performance audio and video systems including live video production and/or video projection and display, networking and control systems, concert audio, signal processing/routing, and performance power distribution
  • General knowledge of AV-related IT services, digital media delivery technologies and networking hardware, infrastructure and system architecture
  • High-level thinking and visualization skills with an orientation for design and creative problem-solving
  • Experience with AV systems architectural integration and infrastructure requirements is a plus
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex issues and problems with clarity
  • A flexible, collaborative approach to work, within the firm and with design team members
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD is required, proficiency with Autodesk Revit is a plus
  • Knowledge of and/or experience in systems for higher education is a plus
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field is preferred
  • CTS, CTS-D, CTS-I or other additional, industry certifications are preferred
