Job Summary

The KIPP ATL Summer School Site Director is the site-based leader and KIPP ATL representative for our Summer Learning Program partnerships with TFA and Girls Inc. They are responsible for building and strengthening the culture of their summer school site while meeting attendance, growth, and achievement goals set for our scholars. The School Site Director will collaborate strategically with stakeholders, such as other site directors to ensure consistent quality of the program, regional support personnel, and TFA site administration to address challenges at the school and regional level as they arise. This individual is responsible for recruiting, hiring, and managing the Summer School Lead Teacher & Faculty Advisors, fostering consistent and healthy communication with the families of our scholars enrolled in the summer learning program, and managing the site partners- risk and policy, and site operations lead.

Job Responsibilities

Spring Training Tasks

  • Design, internalize and develop a deep understanding of the site-based systems you’ll execute on with your school partner in the summer
  • Participate in planning calls to finalize Summer School programming in partnership with TFA and CSO
  • Collaborate with Regional Community Chair to create a culture plan and ensure logistics are clear to staff and Corps Members
  • Proactively build relationships with other staff members to understand and shape the summer experience
  • Collaborate with TFA to complete required synchronous and asynchronous trainings to meet the needs of your role
  • Work with KIPP ATL regional staff to finalize facilities/ space assignments for your site
  • Partner with other KIPP ATL site directors to complete the planning and hiring tasks in preparation for a strong Summer Learning Program start
  • Recruit, screen, hire, and train Summer School Faculty Advisors
  • Support Girls Inc. with after care enrollment process for scholars
  • Manage scholar enrollment and class assignment based on Spring Data

Summer School Faculty Advisor Coaching Management

  • Design, implement and/or manage systems with school partner to execute general support, including administrative, logistical, and manual projects (such as attendance, data collection, scheduling, meetings, etc.) in alignment with our core values and mission to maximize efficiency and ensure Corps Member and staff needs are met
  • Design and execute a strong culture plan in partnership with the Regional Community Chair
  • Serve as the onsite KIPP ATL point of contact for corps members and staff
  • Maintain and dispense supplies to staff and corps members
  • Support Operations Specialists around family and staff member communications, day-to-day logistics, faculty advisor attendance, and other systems/structures, including the implementation of approved participant disability accommodations
  • Lead your site team toward Summer Learning Program outcomes, and ensure Faculty Advisor development, investment, and collaboration with TFA Corps Members
  • Proactive liaise with TFA and Girls Inc partners to anticipate and respond to site-based needs as they arise throughout the summer

Daily Responsibilities

  • Support Operations Specialists in managing the daily responsibilities of arrival, breakfast, lunch, dismissal, transportation, and communication
  • Drive achievement of Summer Learning Program goals for daily scholar attendance, academic growth and achievement, and overall quality learning environment
  • Provide coaching support to all Faculty Advisors while managing and holding staff members accountable to our KIPP Metro Atlanta Schools' professional expectations
  • Manage Summer School Faculty Advisor logistics, serve as onsite KIPP ATL contact, and support Operations Specialists in day-to-day tasks.
  • Participate in ongoing training, refine systems for efficiency, conduct check-ins, and address emerging challenges collaboratively.
  • Anticipate summer needs, review risk & policy tasks, collaborate regionally, and ensure preparations for successful outcomes.
  • Foster programmatic cohesion, evaluate progress, reinforce culture plans, adjust schedules, and ensure alignment for a successful Summer Program and Pre-Service experience.

Compensation

The seasonal School Director role is compensated $26.77 per hour throughout the entire commitment. An estimated expectation of the number of hours expected for this role is 12-15 hours total from April 8th - May 24th, 2024 and 45 hours/week May 27th - June 29th.

Experience

  • Bachelor's degree required, 3 years of educational experience
  • Experience coaching and managing adults
  • One or more years of teaching, Institute/Pre-Service experience or operations experience preferred

Knowledge, Skills, and Approach to Work

  • Ability to build strong relationships and collaborate effectively with multiple parties to achieve strong outcomes
  • Enjoys coaching and developing others via both 1:1 and group methods
  • Experience synthesizing trends across large amounts of data and recommending and leading actions based on trends
  • Knowledge of the application of adult learning principles within adult learning experiences
  • Enjoys managing results through others and ensuring their alignment to outcomes
  • Adeptness with Zoom and other virtual platforms
  • Ability to work occasional weekend or evening work hours required for Spring Training and Corps Member Training and Practicum
  • Strong communication, writing, and presentation skills; ability to translate technical information understandably and concisely for teachers and leadership
