KIPP Delta is part of the nationwide KIPP non-profit network of 275 college-preparatory, public charter schools educating early childhood, elementary, middle, and high school students.

KIPP Delta currently serves more than 1,200 students across 5 schools in Helena and Blytheville, AR.

Job Description

KIPP Delta Public Schools is seeking a highly effective and well versed Assistant Gifted & Talented Coordinator / Instructor to begin program development and facilitation to work with students across all five KIPP Delta schools.

The regional Gifted & Talented Assistant Coordinator / Instructor will focus on grades 3-5 and the other will focus on grades 6-12.

Both Gifted & Talented Coordinator / Instructors will provide pull-out / asynchronous services for students that qualify for Gifted Education programming and help support Gifted testing for students that may qualify for programming.

The enrichment leaders will be responsible for delivering effective and rigorous instruction that is differentiated for students’ specific learning needs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The Gifted teachers will report to the Managing Director of Academics. Designs or selects appropriate instructional modifications for gifted students and coordinates these activities with other teachers as appropriate.

Prepares, implements, and evaluates an annual educational plan for each student based on individually assessed needs in accordance with District procedures.

Develops and monitors the modified strategies for the students in coordination with other teachers as appropriate. Serves on the District identification committee for gifted students.

Provides specialized instruction to individual and small groups of gifted students when necessary to support learning in the content areas.

Creates a classroom environment that provides for student involvement in the learning process and enables each student to achieve learning objectives.

Prepares for classes assigned, and shows written evidence of preparation upon request of the principal or gifted and talented coordinator.

Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals. Establishes learning objectives consistent with appraisal of gifted students as required by Arkansas learning standards and curriculum frameworks for gifted students.

Plans for and utilizes instructional methods, resources and evaluation techniques, which motivate and enable each student to achieve learning objectives.

Maintains accurate and complete records as required by law and District policy. Develops reasonable classroom behavior rules and procedures, and maintains order in the classroom in a fair and just manner.

Provides parents with regular performance evaluations. Establishes relationships with colleagues, students, parents and community which reflect recognition of and respect for every individual.

Participates cooperatively with the appropriate administrator in the evaluation process. Perform other duties as assigned.

SPECIFIC DUTIES

Write Gifted Educational Plans and hold meetings as required by federal law.

Plan a program of study and unit / weekly / daily lessons that, aligned with the school’s curriculum in literacy, math, science, and social studies and that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students

Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and is developmentally appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students

Employ a variety of instructional techniques and instructional technology consistent with best practices, specific content knowledge, and the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved

Implement, by instruction and action, the region’s philosophy of education, curriculum, and instructional goals and objectives

Utilize diagnostic assessment tools to identify learning strengths and needs of every student, on a regular basis, for the purpose of intervention and / or acceleration toward academic and leadership standards

Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulations

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree

Relevant Arkansas Teaching Certification or Eligibility for Certification Elementary Education K-6 for elementary and 6-12 in a subject area for secondary

Gifted Endorsement reflected on teaching certificate

At least one complete year of teaching experience with a proven track-record of high achievement in a Gifted program

HIGHLY PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Arkansas Reading Endorsement (or reading competency coursework in progress)

Two or more years of teaching experience with a proven track-record of high achievement in the classroom in an elementary grade level

EDUCATION / LICENSURE / EXPERIENCE :

GT endorsement required; teacher with appropriate licensure code or equivalent. (Applicants who do not have the Gifted and Talented license / endorsement may be considered for employment, if they are willing to adhere to the requirements of an Additional Licensure Plan (ALP) as defined by the Arkansas Department of Education.

Teachers with experience are preferred.

The Assistant Gifted & Talented Coordinator / Instructor will work typical lead teacher hours for their given schools that they support.

Ideal candidates are familiar with and have experience with Gifted education and are excellent at codifying systems as they go since our in-region program will be brand new.

Our compensation is very competitive and is commensurate with experience
