About the Dean of Operations Role: The Dean of Operations manages the execution of all school-based operational systems. The Operations Manager coordinates with staff, vendors and regional team members to ensure execution of clear operational systems focused on fulfilling the needs of students, families, staff and school community stakeholders. This is a full-time administrative exempt position reporting to the Assistant Principal of Operations (APO).

Role Responsibilities and More About How You’ll Spend Your Time in this RoleProfessional Responsibilities

  • Assume personal responsibility for student achievement
  • Read, internalize, and adhere to the KIPP Colorado Policies and Procedures manual and guidelines
  • Provide an active presence, strategic supervision, and intentional monitoring to ensure student safety and engagement in rigorous learning (regardless of my role and its proximity to students)
  • Take ownership for the development of your craft (meet 1x/1-2 weeks with a manager, implement feedback, engage in active practice, etc.)
  • Commit to being prepared. Such as: internalizing and preparing for lessons; preparing for O3s/coaching, preparing for meetings, coaching, PD, etc.
  • Meet professional obligations including and not limited to meeting deadlines and honoring schedules
  • Consistently leverage existing professional tools, including but not limited to Google Suite (google documents, etc.) and Microsoft Suite (including but not limited to your KIPP Colorado email, Teams chat / meetings, Teams phone, and Microsoft outlook)
  • Maintain strong attendance each day and be on time to all responsibilities
  • Collaborate with colleagues and seek feedback in the spirit of continuous improvement
  • Reflect on professional practices to meet individual professional development goals
  • Actively participate in professional development, grade level, and department meetings
  • Actively engage and implement in all school-wide and Org wide professional development
  • Serve as a positive, contributing member of a grade team or functional team, collaborating with colleagues to tackle common challenges and implement org and grade-wide initiatives
  • Share candid, solutions-oriented feedback with peers and leadership on a regular basis, assuring that feedback is shared directly with the intended recipient. Ensure that feedback is focused on improving outcomes and experiences for students
  • Assist with both student and staff recruitment and engagement- including events, home visits, calls home, and other determined and related requirements
  • Know that you role, professional development, org wide meetings, etc. may require you to travel around Denver to other KIPP Campuses, our Home Office, or other KIPP or PD events
  • Assist with other duties as assigned (such as but not limited to, lunch duty, arrival/dismissal duty, bathroom duty, school support duties, etc.)
Day to Day Operations
  • Ensure that all daily operational systems are effective for teaching and learning. This includes and is not limited to the following:
    • Facilities & Shared Spaces
    • Supplies & Materials
    • Copiers & Printers
    • Guest Teachers & Classroom Coverage
  • Auditing and support of key operational systems as directed by the Assistant Principals of Operations
  • Provide front desk coverage only when needed to provide required breaks for Operations Coordinator or serve as additional support during key times of the day
Project Management
  • Create and drive project management for key operational events and projects
  • Work with the Assistant Principal of Operations to ensure deadlines for all events and projects are met
  • Monitor and manage progress toward deadlines for key projects
  • Events and projects may include: Field Trips, Report Cards and Conferences, Family Events, Registration, Recruitment Events, Campus Celebrations, Graduations and End of Year Closeout
Student Safety and Compliance
  • Work with the Assistant Principal of Operations to ensure compliance on all safety systems and emergency operations plans
  • Serve as a key member of the school Emergency Team
  • Complete medical delegation and CPR/First Aid Training
  • Support with nursing and medical delegation as needed
  • Ensure accurate documentation for 100% of health needs and medications with the DPS provided nurse
  • Work with the Assistant Principal of Operations to ensure front office systems maintain student safety and compliance with all federal and state laws at all times
Finance and Purchasing
  • Create, maintain and drive the campus purchasing system in alignment with KIPP Colorado Fiscal policies
  • Align with Assistant Principal of Operations to meet all required purchasing approvals
  • Ensure that weekly supply orders are placed, tracked and delivered with the support of the Operations team
  • Complete weekly credit card receipt uploads and ensure that 100% of credit card purchases are approved and recorded
  • Complete weekly invoice uploads and approvals from Principals
  • Complete regular bank deposit process and reconciliation
  • Manage inventory system and process for all supplies, curriculum, furniture and uniforms
Communication
  • Work with the Assistant Principal of Operations to ensure campus communication systems are functional and efficient
  • Own and drive family communication which may include weekly newsletter, flyers, Social Media posts and other updates as determined by the campus
  • Ensures campus calendars are accurate, updated and available to staff and families
  • Communicate effectively and appropriately with all KIPP Colorado families, students and staff
Enrollment and Attendance
  • Support goal of 100% enrollment by the first day of school and through October Count
  • Plan and execute Recruitment events as directed by the Assistant Principal of Operations
  • Plan and execute annual registration events to ensure 100% of students are registered by day one of school
  • Manage and track attendance data from Infinite Campus and provide Tier 1 support and intervention with attendance
  • Implement attendance systems to reach the goal of 96% average daily attendance for the campus
Student Data and Technology
  • Understand and manage Infinite Campus systems for scheduling, enrollment and attendance
  • Work in collaboration with the Assistant Principal of Operations team to ensure 100% of students are accurately rosters and schedules in Infinite Campus
  • Manage schedule changes as requested
  • Ensure that annual deadlines for scheduling and student information systems are met
  • Support KIPP Colorado Tech team systems for student devices
  • Develop and manage device damage systems for student technology
  • Serve as Tier 1 support for technology needs for staff and students
Additional Responsibilities
  • Participate in active presence and strategic supervision and monitoring to ensure student safety and engagement in rigorous learning
  • Partner with the Assistant Principal of Special Services and Special Education Teachers to ensure proper implementation of 504s, BIPs, IEPs, safety plans, accommodations, modification, and language support for students
  • Enforce positive behavior systems and monitor behavior data
  • Attend designated school functions outside of school hours (Back to School Night, Report Card Conferences, Community Events, etc.)
  • Perform necessary support duties including (but not limited to) bus, lunch, and dismissal duties, chaperone field trips. Participate in parent meetings, conferences, and periodic evening events
  • Develop strong relationships with the families of students through home visits, participation in school events and phone calls home
  • Communicate regularly with families about academic progress and behavior
  • Participate in daily duties (i.e. breakfast, lunch, dismissal) to support school operations
  • Maintain accurate records and student data tracking systems
  • Assist with both student and staff recruitment

  • Bachelor's degree (required)
  • Spanish bilingual (preferred)
  • At least 2 years of relevant and aligned experience in the area of school operations management (required)
  • At least 2 years of K-12 teaching or similar aligned experience and a strong record of helping underserved students achieve academic success (required)
  • Past experience leading adults in a school environment (preferred)
  • A full understanding and Commitment to an Exceptional Student Experience (more about that HERE) (required)

  • Competitive Market Salary: Starting salary for this role begins at $73,440 and is commensurate with experience
