Kingston Standard Brewing Co. is Hiring a General Manager/Operations Manager Near Kingston, NY

Kingston Job Description — Tasting Room General Manager

Kingston Standard is a locally owned and operated brewery and tasting room located in midtown Kingston, NY. We brew fresh, simple and easy drinking beers on the one hand and complex mixed fermentation, barrel aged beers on the other. Our tasting room features a streamlined menu and a selection of products on draft, as well as regional cider, wine and select spirits.

We're looking for a Tasting Room General Manager with exceptional managerial skills, a passion for workflow efficiency, and experience working with an enthusiastic small staff. This is an In Person position and the Tasting Room General Manager will be responsible for managing the front and back of house operations for the tasting room. Work week is Wednesday - Sundays.

Responsibilities include:

General
1. Staff hiring/onboarding/management: writing job descriptions, posting job openings, conducting interviews and presenting candidates to ownership for final approval, training, conducting quarterly employee reviews.

2. Day to day management of staff, including responsibility for maintaining a staff schedule and communication of such schedule to staff, so as to most efficiently utilize the staff to meet the goals of the Tasting Room experience, fielding all questions from staff, supervising the quality of staff’s work, communicating procedures and priorities with staff.

3. Report regularly to ownership regarding the general operation of the tasting room.
4. Identifying gaps in or potential improvements to Tasting Room workflow / systems / procedures / policies with efficacy and efficiency in mind. Presenting potential improvements or changes to ownership and upon receiving approval implement and or update such and training staff accordingly.

5. Responsible for the organization, maintenance of inventory for the tasting room in both dry and cold storage.

6. Manage 10-15 ongoing vendor relationships, including ordering, sourcing new ingredients and verifying consistency/quality of raw materials and communication with vendors where necessary.

7. Oversee maintenance of Kitchen and Bar equipment including dishwasher/ice machine/prep-stations and reach in fridges.

8. Oversee and participate in general upkeep of a clean and tidy space including tables, bar, bar back, kitchen, storage rooms, walk-in.

9. Respond to customer communications via email / direct phone / google reviews in a courteous and professional manner.

10. Field private event inquiries, maintain bookings calendar and coordinate appropriate closures, customer notification of such, staffing and other considerations to fulfill such event obligations.

Kitchen Responsibilities
● Oversee quality and presentation of food, the speed at which food is prepared and delivered, expediting workflow while focusing on the quality of the customer experience.

Bar Responsibilities
● Warm and welcoming to guests.
● Knowledgeable of our products and our process.
● Oversee draft system including kegs, gas management, draft lines and troubleshooting.
● Maintaining and updating printed menus/menu board/online menu.
● Responsible for cash drawer / cash drops / change rolls /etc.
● Regular communication with Brewery Production Staff regarding customer feedback, inventory, draft or keg quality control issues.

Other
● Develop content and post social media content promoting Tasting Room hrs / specials / events / new products / etc that reflects Tasting Room and company ethos.
● Coordinate and/or perform snow removal, sand application / de-icing in the approach to the front door and delivery door in order to maintain a safe entrance to the tasting room.

Requirements
● 2 years prior general restaurant management experience
