Kingsmill Resort is Hiring a Construction Manager Near Williamsburg, VA

Kingsmill Resort is a vacation, conference, and golf resort located in Williamsburg, VA. The Kingsmill Resort has 425 rooms, five restaurants, 17,000 square feet of conference space, a spa and fitness center, marina, and 15-court tennis center. Three championship golf courses (two at the resort, one private) surround the resort and are nestled within a large, planned community (management of which is not part of the Kingsmill Resort).
We are seeking a Construction Manager to manage various construction projects. This position will closely manage external contractors and vendors throughout the construction process for new and existing residential and commercial projects. This position involves direct contact with both internal and external parties, and the ideal candidate must have a professional demeanor and ability to communicate effectively with all parties associated with the project.
Role and Responsibilities
  • Manage and oversee work sites for both new construction and remodel projects, coordinating site activities and assuring that all disciplines directly involved in the project are in phase with the project goals and objectives
  • Oversee and provide direction to general contractors, subcontractors, and vendors when doing groundwork ensuring quality standards are met
  • Liaise between engineers, architects, municipalities, and others working on the project
  • Proactively identify, mitigate, and track recurring construction issues
  • Adhere to legal regulations, building and safety codes and other requirements
  • Develop and maintain strong supplier, trade partner, and building inspector relationships.
  • Evaluate and recommend construction methods to increase quality and profitability
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of ever-changing construction practices, materials, building codes and OSHA requirements
  • Stay current on industry trends by reading publications, talking with material suppliers, and attending continuing education
  • Provide project status updates as required, participate in project internal reviews, and monitor project schedules and budgets throughout
Qualifications and Education Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Construction, Engineering, Construction Management or Architecture preferred
  • 5 years in Construction Management/Engineering/Architecture preferred
  • Proficiency in standard business software such as the Microsoft Office suite of products (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint)
  • Exceptional interpersonal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to write/review contracts

  • Proficient verbal and written communication are both necessary between internal staff, trade partners, and customers.
  • Ability to communicate with clients whether it be by text, e-mails, or phone

  • Ability to work independently or with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment
  • Good judgment and decision-making skills
  • Organization and time management skills are a necessity; multi-tasking and managing projects in multiple communities is required
