Kings County is Hiring a Juvenile Indigent Defense Attorney (Contracted, Continuous) Near Hanford, CA

The County of Kings is currently seeking a Juvenile Indigent Defense Attorney to provide indigent legal services for juvenile delinquency, dependency and LPS (Lanterman Petris Short Act) conservatorship cases on a contract basis for a flat monthly rate of $7,889.71 ($94,676.52/year).
This is a "continuous recruitment"which means, we will accept applications on a continuous basis. A continuous recruitment may be closed at any time. 
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
The selected candidate will provide public defender services to indigent defendants in juvenile delinquency, dependency and LPS conservatorship. Represents indigent defendants consistent with constitutional and professional standards; advises clients on legal rights and alternatives; reviews and examines evidence and interrogates witnesses; prepares and presents cases in court proceedings; examines and cross-examines witnesses; prepares for jury selection; prepares and/or supervises the preparation of legal documents including but not limited to briefs, legal opinions and pleadings; conducts legal research; prepares correspondence and reports; provides advice, guidance and updates on aspects of the law and procedure pertaining to defense matters; maintains client confidentiality.Any combination of education and relevant experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required knowledge, skills and abilities would be:
Education:
Possession of an active, valid membership in the California State Bar AND Completion of 8 hours of training or education in juvenile dependency law and completion of 12 hours of training or education in juvenile delinquency law. 
Experience:
Experience of representing at least 3 conservatees AND completion of 3 of 5 tasks ranging from types of probate representation to the drafting of wills or trusts.Special Requirements:
Federal and state constitutions require provision of competent counsel for indigent defense. Attorney shall meet the legal standards required for providing competent representation in California pursuant to California and Federal law. Attorney shall also meet the standards of representation established in the legal community. Those applicants who appear to best meet the minimum requirements for this position will be invited to an oral examination. You will be notified if you are among those selected for an interview.
NOTE: The juvenile indigent defense attorney selected to fill this contract position will be required to sign a contract for provisions of their services for Kings County. A copy of the contract is available at the Administration Office for review.
