Functions independently to perform age-appropriate history and physical for complex acute, critical, and chronically ill perioperative patients.
• Orders and interprets diagnostic and therapeutic tests relative to patient’s age-specific needs.
• Prescribes appropriate pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatment modalities
• Implements interventions to support the patient to regain or maintain physiologic stability, including but not limited to serving in the first assisting role.
• Assists with the provision of medical and surgical care in accordance with facility, state, and federal regulations. • Monitors the effectiveness of interventions.
• Facilitates the patient’s transition within and between health care settings, e.g., admitting, transferring, and discharging patients.
• Collaborates with multidisciplinary team members by making appropriate referrals.
• Facilitates staff, patient and family decision making by providing educational tools.
Clinic Specific Responsibilities:
Family Nurse Practitioners: Are responsible for managing patient panels in clinic settings and may see select inpatient consults to aid physicians in delivering timely and efficient care. Primary management of inpatients rely on the physician on the admitting service. Clinic setting range from primary care, employee health and specialty clinics. Training in the assigned clinic will be specific for the population served.
Education:
• Graduate of a school of nursing.
• Graduate of a Nurse Practitioner Program. Certification: BLS, and ACLS certifications through American Heart Association or American Red Cross. Licensure:
• Current Arizona Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN); Licensure with specificity to the practice setting (FNP, ACNP, or PMHNP-BC).
• Current DEA Licensure.
