King Street Center (KSC) is seeking a full-time 40hr/week temporary substitute to fill a spot in our preschool classroom while one of our teachers is out on maternity leave, May through August. This position will be working with other classroom teachers to teach and support children ages 3-5 years. Our program is rooted in our profound respect for children and families. We value relationship building and meaningful connections. We get to know children and their individual learning style so that we can create a dynamic environment for all children.

Responsibilities include:

• Attend to the care, safety and well being of children.
• Set and enforce limits that are related to the child’s level of maturity.
• Promote independence by allowing children to solve their own problems.
• Listen to children with interest, answer questions, and maintain a receptive attitude.
• Support a program that is balanced in regard to active and quiet play, child directed and teacher directed, indoor and outdoor.
• Open, close, set up, and clean up the classroom as needed.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED.
• One to three years experience teaching in an early childhood program or working with children is preferred.

Job Types: Full-time, Temporary
