Our Plant Managers ensure that plant objectives are being met, including all processing, shipping, quality standards to include spec, yield, freshness and accuracy of pack and portion, profitability, and facility maintenance, in accordance with King’s Seafood Company’ policies.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for daily completion of “Big Sheet” and all forms in the daily “package”.
  • Responsible for the training, ongoing development, and mentoring of supervisors. Provides leadership, maturity, and team building. Conducts performance reviews and coaching sessions with supervisors.
  • Directs the daily activities of production team, including creating crew schedule. Provides operational support to the production team as needed. Leads by example.
  • Ensures that crew is adequately supplied with all commonly used tools and supplies and that these are maintained in good repair.
  • Ensures that quality standards for all products are always being adhered to. Provides feedback on quality and turnover to Buyer.
  • Oversees the training, ongoing development, and mentoring of crewmembers. Directs the staffing, training, reviews, and counseling sessions of crewmembers, including hiring, and promotion. Ensures that crewmember training program is followed. Promotes learning and skill improvement.
  • Creates and maintains positive relations with crew; provides leadership and empowers crew to make suggestions and solve problems. Maintains “Open Door Policy” by maintaining open communication with crew. Promotes atmosphere of teamwork and unity among crew.
  • Ensures that KSD plant is clean and maintained to company standards. Provides a safe and clean environment for crewmembers and Guests.
  • Ensures compliance with Health Dept. and completion of all HACCP forms. Ensures that Safety Program is followed. Communicates and reinforces standards and regulations to all crewmembers.
  • Responsible for completing all record keeping and administrative duties as assigned, with assistance from the bookkeeper as provided. Includes daily labor validation, daily inventory, all “pack-out” forms, all yield programs. Also involved is Maintenance of the KSD site and the assurance of accurate billing and invoicing.
  • Communicate new products introduction, product changes and shortages to all restaurants.
  • Responsible for creating “Off the Hook” KSD newsletter.
  • Responsible for ordering:
    • Lobsters, oysters and shellfish
    • Once per week, order Meat for wet aging (advised by Finance, Culinary, and Distribution Director)
    • Paper goods
    • Dry goods
    • Miscellaneous items

Essential Skills/Experience:

  • Human Relations - ability to positively interact with diverse personalities. Requires ability to interact effectively with crewmembers, Guests, and purveyors in a variety of work situations.

  • Training and Development - ability to develop results-oriented crewmembers through effective evaluation, coaching and counseling. Ability to assist others in developing needed skills for effective job performance.

  • Staffing - an understanding of King’s Seafood Company hiring and selection policies, procedures, and profiles to maintain KSC selection standards.

  • Leadership - ability to motivate others to achieve results and objectives through support, instruction, and empowerment.

  • Delegation - ability to positively distribute responsibility to others to meet objectives and get results.

  • Organization and Planning - ability to proactively and strategically achieve goals, using visionary thinking and creative approaches to develop plans.

  • Quality Management - assessing the ability of systems and procedures to contribute value to King’s Seafood Distribution’s products, service and philosophies.

  • Financial Acumen - an understanding of basic accounting principles to assess and achieve financial results. Ability to develop cost control measures.

  • Judgment - ability to recognize problems and to creatively and immediately find solutions. Ability to set priorities and use initiative; solid decision-maker.

  • Communication - ability to positively interact with diverse personalities, including demonstration of active listening skills and intuition.

  • Creativity - the use of imagination in developing improved S.O.Ps; ingenuity.

  • Awareness - ability to notice detail and understand its impact on quality, yield goals, turnover rate, service, and accuracy of packing and shipping, as well other plant standards.

Physical Requirements:

  • 50% - Performing tasks and coaching work throughout the plant
  • 20% - Seated at computer terminal or meetings with MD, admin and/or supervisors
  • 20% - Lifting (frequently up to 50lbs), moving, and stacking product
  • 5% - Running forklift, pallet jack, or trucks
  • 5% - Receiving duties including HACCP paperwork
