Facility Custodian

PURPOSE
The Facility Custodian position has the primary responsibility of facility cleaning , teardowns and setups

EXPECTATIONS
● Be a person of integrity, character and a life of worship to the Triune God

● Functional knowledge of the Great Commission that Christ has given to His Church

● Work collaboratively with the team that is assembled at King of Glory

● Ability to deal effectively with the public at large and be a “face” of King of Glory’s mission, vision, and values is required

● Uphold the policies and procedures as outlined in the Policy Governance manual and the

Operations Manual of the Congregation

POSITION REQUIREMENTS
● As a partner with the Facility Manager, this person must be able to take initiative with the grounds and facility and lead as needed

● As a Facility Custodian, this person must have strong organizational abilities and customer service skills. The Facility Assistant should exhibit strong customer service skills and have the ability to remain professional in difficult situations

● Minimum of High School Diploma or GED and 1-3 years of experience in a related field

● Self-starter, initiative and positive attitude

● Regular timely attendance during stated or negotiated hours

● Available to work non-traditional hours such as nights and weekends (Fri, Sat, Sun, Mon)

● Knowledge of basic cleaning skills

● Ability to lift a minimum of 40 pounds; must have complete physical mobility to support building and grounds activities

● Practices Christian faith and knowledge of faith community dynamics

● Acceptable background checks for criminal and credit history are required

RELATIONSHIPS
● Reports to the Facility Manager

● Interacts with members, attendees, visitors, and the community at large

RESPONSIBILITIES
● Maintain upkeep of facility performing basic functions related to cleaning

● Prepare facility for work and meeting needs (includes setting up and breaking down of tables and chairs, setting up or taking down other equipment, managing access to the building)

● Perform a variety of cleaning tasks to maintain assigned areas. May require movement of cabinets, boxes, furniture and equipment to clean areas

● Clean and disinfect all bathroom fixtures, floors, mirrors, windows, doors and walls. Replenish all supplies

● Clean building floors by sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, scrubbing, stripping, buffing and/or waxing them. May require use of use of floor stripping/buffing machines and equipment, chemicals or cleaning solutions to remove stains from floor surfaces

● Gather and dispose of trash, waste, recycle materials

● Clean glass and windows where required

● Follow procedures for use of chemical cleaners and power equipment in order to prevent damage to floors and fixtures

● Monitor building security and safety by performing tasks such as locking doors after operating hours and checking electrical appliance use to ensure that hazards are not created

● Notify Facility Manager concerning the need for repairs to operating areas/systems

● Working knowledge of personal computers

● Excellent verbal and written communication and language skills

● Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and coordinate multiple assignments concurrently, prioritize them, and see that they are completed in the timeframes required

● Ability to work collectively with co-workers and church members

● Ability to work under stressful pressures of time limitations

● Ability to work with a variety of individuals with divergent personalities and support requirements to maintain positive working relationships

● Relate effectively, helpfully, and tactfully to accommodate people, and pleasantly provide them with the information and services requested

● Willingness to work beyond the normal work schedule when necessary to meet deadlines

● Ability to be a part of a team atmosphere and complete other duties as assigned

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: From $15.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20 per week

• 4 hour shift

• Cleaning: 1 year (Preferred)

License/Certification:

• Driver's License (Preferred)

Ability to Relocate:

• Williamsburg, VA 23188: Relocate before starting work (Preferred)
