Summary

King County District Court Profile
KCDC is the largest and most technologically advanced Court of Limited Jurisdiction in the State of Washington. It currently processes approximately 200,000 matters per year with 25 elected judges and roughly 260 employees at 8 courthouse locations. The Court is a leader in many areas involving public safety and access to justice, including the use of problem-solving courts, jail-alternative programs, technology- and judge-managed probation services. Fourteen cities contract with King County for court services provided by KCDC.
Position Summary
King County District Court is seeking applicants for a current opening as a Court Coordinator for the Redmond, WA Courthouse. The Court Coordinator is responsible for creating and maintaining a team of employees that are committed to serving the public, and who are willing and able to perform their duties and excel on a daily basis.

Job Duties

  • Assists with supervision of Court Clerks including hiring, development, engagement, workload distribution, performance management and conflict resolution.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with Judges, staff, criminal justice agencies, other county agencies and the public.
  • Assist with the development of new projects and serve on committees as required. Handles complex issues, questions, and sensitive and confidential matters.
  • Assists in the formulation and implementation of court policies, rules, guidelines, and procedures.
  • Maintains current knowledge of the Court processes and procedures.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with colleagues at all levels of the organization, union officials, as well as individuals in other organizations, departments, agencies, and the public.
  • Knowledge of principles of administration, planning and supervision.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and resolve conflict at the lowest level in a high-stress environment.
  • Ability to plan, delegate, and coordinate work.
  • Demonstrated ability to clearly express ideas and recommendations.
  • Ability to continually adapt, learn, retain, and utilize new concepts and procedures quickly. Be open to sudden or unexpected changes and be flexible – have a drive to succeed. Ability to problem solve by analyzing successes and failures, and provide solutions to new challenges.
  • Skill in self-identifying opportunities to improve personal weaknesses or limitations; open to multiple forms of training/development; and an understanding that different situations may call for a different skill set to a solve a problem.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement; looking at processes through a lens of curiosity to improve efficiencies and customer service.
Desired Qualifications:
  • Management experience.
  • Knowledge of policies, procedures and laws pertaining to the operation of the King County District Court.
  • Knowledge of local, state, federal laws and regulations that apply.

Work location:
NOTE: Court Coordinators maybe assigned to work at any District Court location which include Shoreline, Seattle, Redmond, Issaquah, Bellevue, Burien, Auburn or Kent (MRJC).
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, talk or hear, and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and move and/or lift up to 10 pounds. The vision abilities required to perform this position include close vision.
Working Conditions:
Work is typically performed in an office environment with a moderate amount of noise (computers, printers, light traffic). This role routinely uses standard office equipment.
