Summary

We are looking to fill ONE 0.5FTE - 20 hrs week pharmacist position to work at the Downtown Public Health Center Pharmacy in Community Health Services Division of Public Health Seattle & King County support the operation and serving our clients.
This Pharmacist position will provide professional pharmaceutical services. The incumbent is required to be a licensed pharmacist who will be responsible for working within the medication distribution system in a Public Health Center setting, which includes all aspects of filling and dispensing prescriptions. The incumbent will work with other members of the pharmacy team and with the clinic medical staff to provide pharmaceutical care and will also support other Public Health pharmacies if needed.

Work Schedule
This position is fully benefited 0.5 FTE and overtime eligible.
Pharmacy operation hours at Downtown Public Health is Monday - Friday 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM. Fixed schedules can be negotiated and includes shifts 5 days per week.
The work may require you to backfill full days a few times per month.

Job Duties

Fill and dispense prescription and non-prescription medications for Public Health patients.
•Monitor drug therapy prescribed to patients by evaluating patient medical history, clinically significant drug interactions, adverse reactions, therapeutic duplications, drug dosage, and compliance with prescription order.
•Provide drug education to health care providers and patients related to medications prescribed.
•Participate and maintain inventory control of drugs including purchasing, receiving, and placing in stock all drug and pharmacy supplies.
•Participate in quality improvement efforts in health facilities by providing drug use management programs and participating in facility's activities.
•Act as preceptor for pharmacy interns and pharmacy technicians.
•Support the teams of vaccine prep staffs, vaccinators, clinicians, and other disciplines working at other Public Health sites.
•Oversee proper receipt and storage of pharmacy deliveries.
•Perform data entry and data system management related to pharmacy operations.
•Perform other duties as assigned.
Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills

  • Pharmacist License
  • Immunization Certificate
  • Healthcare Provider CPR/BLS Certificate
  • Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy OR Pharm D from an accredited college OR university
  • Must possess current Washington State Board of Pharmacy Pharmacist license and be in good standing.
  • Current knowledge of disease states and other health issues utilizing pharmaceutical therapy, current therapeutic use of drugs, clinically significant drug interactions and adverse drug reactions, and strong clinical pharmacy knowledge and applicability to the health issues addressed by Public Health
  • Current knowledge of drug names, strength, dosage forms, generic equivalents, and delivery systems
  • Skilled in working with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • Must be able to work well as a contributing member of a diverse multi-disciplinary staff.
  • Knowledge of inventory control procedures and practices
  • Knowledge of Washington State laws and regulations regarding the practice of pharmacy
  • Knowledge of delegation techniques and principles
  • Knowledge of medication storage and shipping requirements for product stability
  • Knowledge of legal requirements for pharmacy wholesalers relating to re-packaging and returns for credit of medications.
  • Mathematics calculation skills for determining weight and strength of solutions for compounding.
  • Must possess organization skills; communication skills (oral and written), problem-solving skills, and presentation skills.
Desired:
  • Experience working with physicians and nurse practitioners or other clinical team members.
  • Previous experience working in a community or public health clinic is desired.
  • Previous experience working in a 340B pharmacy is desired.
