The Position: The Seasonal Sales Associate is key in delivering outstanding customer service and driving sales at our flagship location in Norwich, VT during our busiest times of the year. The Seasonal Sales Associate works between the Retail and Café as needed, assists customers with product selection, provides information about promotions and discounts, and ensures the shopping experience is enjoyable and memorable as well as performs the tactical function of operating cash registers and Point of Sale (POS) systems. The individual in this role works under direct supervision and as an integral part of a customer-focused team.

The Benefits: As a temporary team member, you will be eligible for medical only benefits after three months and the ability to participate in the company's 401(K) program immediately. You will also receive generous discounts in our retail store and a great rate of pay with a generous shift differential for evening hours if applicable.

The Location: Norwich, VT; onsite daily.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Greet customers warmly and ascertain their needs. Provide product information, answer inquiries, and offer recommendations. Assist customers in locating merchandise and making purchasing decisions.
  • Strive to deliver exceptional customer service at all times. Address customer concerns or complaints promptly and professionally. Build rapport with customers to enhance their shopping experience and foster repeat business.
  • Operate cash registers and POS systems to process transactions accurately and efficiently. Handle cash, credit, and other forms of payment securely.
  • Ensure that merchandise displays are visually appealing and fully stocked. Monitor inventory levels and assist with restocking shelves, straightening, and cleaning as needed. Participate in periodic inventory counts and assist with inventory management tasks.
  • Support the team in meeting monthly sales goals by actively engaging with customers to drive sales and meet established targets.
  • Adheres to all safety, food, and workplace regulations, procedures, and policies.

Experience and Education

  • 1-2 years of experience in a retail or related field.
  • Proficiency in operating cash registers and POS systems.
  • Baking knowledge a plus.
  • Experience in a fast-paced environment.
  • Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in an indoor cafe environment with exposure to the sound and temperature of espresso machines as well as cleaning products. Employees may also work around knives, slicers and other sharp objects. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but may be loud dependent on specific work site and/or equipment operation as well as customer traffic.
