King Academy is Hiring a Bible Teacher - High School Near Sunnyvale, CA
Job Title: Bible Teacher
Job Status: Full-Time, 10 Months
Exempt Status: Exempt
Department: Bible
Reports to: High School Principal
Job Summary
The primary responsibility of the teacher is to provide classroom instruction to the students of The
King’s Academy, as well as being a Christian role model to them. Teachers should view their role
as ministry, helping each student towards reaching their full potential in Christ.The main purpose
of each course is to present an accurate, thoughtful study of His Word, and to continually explore
the practical implications for each student in his or her daily life.
Essential Job Functions
Planning and Teaching
- Develops a curriculum map for each course taught where learning objectives are aligned
- Prepares detailed lesson plans
- Uses a variety of teaching methodologies to create an engaging and safe classroom setting
where all students are held to high expectations
Grading
Grades all assignments, tests, quizzes, and projects in a timely manner, using the grading
- Keeps an accurate record of all grades for each student, timely submitting them to the
- Records homework for the day/week on the school portal
Keeps an accurate record of all attendance and tardies for each student.
- Maintains discipline in the classroom to ensure maximum learning
- Provides an uncluttered, healthy, and neat classroom that promotes a good learning and
- Always keeps an emergency lesson plan and current substitute folder in case of an
- Creates backup videos of lessons for students to refer back to
Communication
Communicates with parents on an “as needed” basis regarding their student’s academic or
- Returns phone calls and emails within 24 hours
- Keeps an accurate record of all communications with parents
- Advises the Department Lead as soon as plans to be away from the classroom are being
considered
Attends Grade Level and Department meetings, as scheduled
- Leads a daily student homegroup
- Coordinates field trips and special events, as needed
- Attends the Staff and students’ Retreat every year, as scheduled by the Administration
- Performs any other duties that may be assigned
Qualifications
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Bible or related field
- 1 year of teaching experience at HS level
- Experience in communicating God’s Word
Skills and Abilities
Broad knowledge and experience in answering complex questions about Christianity, The
- Demonstrated ability to communicate with teenagers and draw them close to Christ
Commitment to serving Jesus Christ
- Ability to work under pressure and in a fast paced environment
- Ability to keep confidential information
- Energetic, flexible, resourceful
- Leadership and mentoring skills
- Able to understand, love and relate to students
- Must be active in a local Christian body of believers or at least pursuing community with
- Must have compatible theology on significant issues of TKA's Statement of Faith and
Lifestyle Agreement
Required to use the computer throughout the day
- Frequently communicates with students, parents and colleagues throughout the day.
- Work will be performed from the campus
- Will move throughout the campus during the day
- May occasionally have to lift up to 20-pounds
- Work is generally performed, August-Mid-June, Monday-Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
- This position will occasionally require you to work nights, weekends and overnights
