Description

Position: Registered Dietitian

Location: St. Louis, MO

Responsibilities: Responsible for planning and implementing nutrition care and therapy to hospital patients in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local standards and regulations, clinical guidelines, policies, and procedures. Coordinate with interdisciplinary team to develop, implement, and evaluate plans of care. Provide a full range of nutrition care services, including assessment, treatment planning, and organizing in an interdisciplinary environment consistent with the position's qualifications, professional practices, and ethical standards. Conduct nutrition education individually and in classes to patients, families, staff, and community as appropriate. Ensure that dietary Kardex or similar record (electronic or manual) of diet orders and food preferences is accurate and utilized in the Nutrition Services Department. Coordinate with the Nutrition Services Supervisor/Manager to review, calculate as needed, edit, and customize regular and therapeutic menus to meet the food preferences of patients in accordance with established policies, procedures, Diet Manual guidelines, standard of practice, and regulations. Review and provide written approval for therapeutic menus as acceptable and accurate for patient use. Assist the Nutrition Services Supervisor/Manager with purchasing decisions for food, supplies, equipment, etc. within approved budgets. Assist the Nutrition Services Supervisor/Manager with training Nutrition Services employees including on the job training, orientation classes for therapeutic menu modification, etc. Provide in-service training to facility staff on topics related to Nutrition Services. Provide coordination services with the Culinary Services Manager to ensure that safe and accurate nutrition services are provided to patients and have accountability for and will contribute to program development, quality improvement, problem solving, and productivity enhancement in a flexible interdisciplinary fashion. Monitor the appropriate ordering and distribution of nourishments, supplements, and meals to patients and take corrective action when necessary. Be responsible for evaluating patient response to nutrition and dietary plans. Provide feedback to the rest of the team, while documenting the course of patient care including progress and continuing need for nutrition enhancements. Participate in the hospital’s Performance Improvement Program, conduct, aggregate, trend, and act on data for improvement as needed. Participate in the survey process.

Qualifications
 Education: Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Nutrition and Dietetics or a directly related field. The position also requires Registration from the Commission on Dietic Registration, a current State of Missouri Dietitian license, and a current Food Protection Manager Certification from an ANSI-CFP accredited program.
