A Crisis Interventionist provides support for more difficult students in the school setting. During periods of pre-crisis/crisis, a Crisis Interventionist will intervene with a supportive intervention that is consistent with the KidsPeace Model of Care and Safe Crisis Management. They assist in maintaining a safe, therapeutic environment through the use of approved interventions. The position also consists of collecting data, forming therapeutic relationships and reinforcing on-task behavior. The Crisis Interventionist provides support, suggestions and guidance to the educational staff as needed.

Job Duties:

• Fully perform restraints as necessary when ordered by a licensed professional using the current approved KidsPeace restraint methodology on youth who may weigh in excess of 250 pounds and who are verbally or physically threatening or otherwise presenting a threat to themselves or others.
• Provide crisis intervention to KidsPeace students, and complete related reporting and record keeping.
• Act as building floater in halls, bathrooms and playgrounds to ensure safe learning environment.
• Transport students to place of residence and report behavior to relevant person, as necessary.

Qualifications:

1. High School Diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s Degree in Mental Health or related field preferred.
2. Must be at least 21 years of age
3. Valid driver’s license, SCM certification, CPR/First Aid certification required.
4. Able to perform a Restraint using the current approved KidsPeace Restraint methodology. Able to understand and identify the psychological and physical effects of a Seclusion or Restraint on our students
5. Must have the ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, flexible hours, and overtime as required.
