Kids University is Hiring a Bus Driver & After-school Teacher for Private School Near Saint Cloud, FL

Position Summary

Drivers are responsible for driving and picking up from childcare center and taking to school and picking up children from school and dropping back off at childcare center at the end of school, cleaning, and maintaining buses.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Driving bus per daily designated routes
  • Make sure children get on and off bus safely
  • Maintain accurate driving log daily
  • Cleaning and maintaining the bus/van, including taking the bus/van to designated area for clean out, fresh water/soap/disinfectant and fuel for the next day/week
  • Monitoring the need for major repairs, including engine tune-up, oil change, filter change, and tire replacements and let management know if there is an issue
  • Performing other duties as assigned


Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred; and one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience required by Bright from The Start
  • Have a current and valid Driver’s License
  • Ability to safely drive vehicles
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with employees, supervisors, and the general public
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to perform tasks under varying weather conditions
  • Ability to make independent judgments which have moderate impacts on the organization
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence


Physical Demands and Work Environment

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. The employee is frequently required to sit or talk. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, lift, carry, push, pull, stoop, kneel, crouch, hold objects, and perform repetitive motions. The employee must be able to regularly perform light lifting and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Moderate eye/hand/foot coordinate is required. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to temperature changes and workplace hazards.


Position Summary

The After-school Teacher instructs school-aged children in activities designed to promote social, physical, and intellectual growth. Performs a variety of tasks, such as ensuring homework is completed, children follow implemented schedule when arriving at the center before or after-school.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Organize and lead activities designed to promote physical, mental, and social development, such as games, arts and crafts, music, storytelling, and field trips.
  • Teach basic skills, such as color, shape, number and letter recognition, personal hygiene, and social skills.
  • Observe and evaluate children's performance, behavior, social development, and physical health.
  • Attend to children's basic needs by serving them food, helping with homework and other activities
  • Provide a variety of materials and resources for children to explore, manipulate, and use, both in learning activities and in imaginative play.
  • Serve meals and snacks in accordance with nutritional guidelines.
  • Teach proper eating habits and personal hygiene.
  • Prepare materials and classrooms for class activities.
  • Enforce all administration policies and rules governing students.
  • Identify children showing signs of emotional, developmental, or health-related problems and discuss them with supervisors, parents or guardians, and child development specialists.
  • Meet with parents and guardians to discuss their children's progress and needs, determine their priorities for their children, and suggest ways that they can promote learning and development.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

  • CDA or Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • 2 years of related experience or relevant coursework
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and training design, teaching and instruction for individuals and groups, and the measurement of training effects.
  • Knowledge of human behavior and performance; individual differences in ability, personality, and interests; learning and motivation.
  • Selecting and using training/instructional methods and procedures appropriate for the situation when learning or teaching new things.
