Job Description –Teaching Assistant

Our staff are passionate about the intellectual and emotional development of children. The Teaching Assistant will be responsible for maintaining a positive and appropriate educational environment, and implementing a program that meets the intellectual and emotional needs of all of our children. The Teaching Assistant will work closely with the Lead Teacher to ensure our program provides education, physical health, emotional well- being and parental involvement services to all enrolled students.

Reports to: Director, Assistant Director, Lead Teacher

Supervises: children in assigned classroom under direction of Lead Teacher

Job Type: Full-time or part-time hours

Evaluation: Upon completion of probationary period, and then annually. A Performance evaluation may be completed at any time if performance is showing need of improvement.

Requirements:

• Must be at least 18 years of age
• 1 years of experience in working with children (preferred)
• Education: High School Diploma (required or in progress)
• Passionate about the development and well-being of children
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Able to pass a criminal background check (required)
• Those employed as Teaching Assistant in N1 (Infant Nursery) must have completed Safe Sleep Training (required).

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
• Must be able to walk up and down one flight of stairs.
• Must be able to hear, talk, and see (requires both near and distance vision)

Salary Range: $11/hour

Duties: The Teaching Assistant will be responsible for:

• Assisting the Lead Teacher in individual classroom management
• Implementing the weekly lesson plans as directed by Lead Teacher
• Supervision of children in assigned to classroom
• Communicate with Lead Teacher about serious behavior issues
• Communicate with each parent during drop-off/pick-up time, in absence of Lead Teacher
• Maintain professionalism
• Assist Director and other staff, as needed and can do so without children unsupervised
• Duties as otherwise assigned

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $11.00 per hour
