POSITION TITLE: Local Impact Coordinator - Full Time
REPORTS TO: Local Impact Lead
POSITION SUMMARY: The Local Impact Coordinator is responsible for assisting the Local Impact Lead with program administration and management. This includes organizing and managing the Kids In Need Foundation’s volunteer groups and builds. Groups may include businesses, schools, clubs or other community members. The Local Impact Coordinator will also assist in coordinating operations of our Teacher Resource Center (TRC), the location of our National Network of Resource Centers. With the goal of increasing educator participation and ensuring that our educators have the best possible experience every time they shop with us, this role is instrumental in our ability to put ‘our best face forward’ to both our shoppers and to our potential donors/partners.
Schedule: This candidate must be available to flex a typical work schedule to include weeknights and Saturdays (half-day).
School Year (August-May) Schedule:
Monday-Thursday: 9:00-6:00 PM
Saturdays: 8:30 AM-12:30 PM
*June & July: Monday-Friday 9:00 AM-5:00 PM with occasional evening and weekend hours
Duties/Responsibilities
Volunteer Coordination
● Lead various sized volunteer groups several times a week. The majority of volunteer groups pack boxes and/or backpacks full of essential school supplies for Kids In Need Foundation’s (KINF) National Program orders.
● Greet volunteer groups, provide an introduction to KINF’s mission and instructions/demonstration for packing National Program orders.
● Ensure that volunteers are safely completing tasks in accordance with set guidelines.
● Maintain quality control of the end product by supervising packing of National Program orders and periodically checking for errors.
● Serve as point of contact and liaison for volunteer groups during volunteer sessions.
● Train and on-board new volunteers including an introduction to organizational mission, orientation to volunteer opportunities and tasks, tours, program materials, instructions, and safety protocols.
● Responsible for organizing, prepping and cleaning the volunteer space and ensuring trash is collected and processed. This also includes ensuring that the appropriate quantities are specified for the volunteers to aid in the completion of the build.
● Manage effective and timely communications with volunteers, staff, members and
clients/community partners.
● Ensure a positive experience for the volunteer/s and gather feedback following volunteers shift utilizing survey tools to develop best practices and areas for improvement and share with staff.
● Assist in covering Volunteer Program tasks as needed when Local Impact Lead is out of office or unavailable.
Teacher Resource Center (TRC) Operations
● Ensure a smooth and efficient check-in/out experience, that shoppers (educators) are properly greeted and are informed on how to shop
● Maintain standards for TRC appearance, maintain a bright and welcoming environment
● Responsible for completing the nightly closing checklist
● Work with the TRC team to create cohesive plans to display products, which make best usage of space and available items, leveraging overstock items as much as possible
● Ensure that all Standard Operating Procedures are adhered to and optimized as needed
● Responsible to know what's needed in the TRC, ensuring issues are flagged/escalated to upper management
● Proactively look for opportunities improve the educator shopping experience
● Partner with Local Impact Lead to ensure all TRC volunteers are properly trained, scheduled, and equipped to assist with educator shopping. Includes creating tasks for TRC volunteers and optimizing their Standard Operating Procedures as needed
● Maintain ‘Store Stash’ area, coordinating daily operations and consistently consolidating and removing excess pallets to make space available for incoming transfer orders. Ensure area is tidy and well-maintained so as to not hinder any Warehouse operations
REQUIREMENTS:
● Bachelor’s Degree or HS Diploma with two years of related experience.
● 2 years of previous experience leading/managing volunteer groups or leading others in a related environment.
● Ability to multitask, prioritize and communicate effectively and professionally at all times.
● Competent to manage unplanned setbacks and delays and maximize volunteer groups productivity
● Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States.
● Must be available to work evenings and Saturdays (August-May)
● Required to stand long periods of time
● Occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $39,000.00 - $44,000.00 per year
