Overview:
We are a licensed childcare center seeking a compassionate and patient professional to assist a family as a paraprofessional for their son with autism. Their son currently attends our school on a part time basis and we are assisting the family with finding a part time paraprofessional! The hired applicant would be paid directly by the family, on a weekly basis. The child is very calm and happy! He is non-verbal and working on potty training, so we are asking that applicants only apply if they feel comfortable with these requirements. We are looking to hire ASAP! The hours currently are Monday- Friday, 8:30-12:00 but may vary depending on families needs.
Responsibilities:
- Assist the child with classroom routines, basic toileting functions, and calming when agitated
- Provide one-on-one support to student with special education needs
- Support student in developing literacy, math, and other academic skills
- Assist with classroom management and behavior management strategies
- Collaborate with teachers and other professionals to create a positive and inclusive learning environment
- Monitor student progress and provide feedback to teachers
Qualifications:
- Experience working with children, preferably in an educational or childcare setting
- Knowledge of childhood development and early childhood education principles
- Familiarity with special education practices and strategies
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team
