The Production Coordinator position is an intermediate leadership position responsible for operations of an assembly area.

In this role the Production Coordinator leads, motivates, and supports team members to achieve targets, maintain quality standards and ensures a safe working environment.

The Production Coordinator works closely with Production Technicians, Lean Process Managers, Operations Managers, and Engineers as needed.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Leadership

  • Set up production area, which allows employees maximum production
  • Communication link with Manager and between shifts
  • Conduct huddles in manager’s absence
  • Participate in employee performance reviews
  • Participate in department interviews and selection process
  • Resource for department product knowledge / quality issues
  • Be trained on all mechanical equipment within department to help with problem solving and training
  • Trouble shoot problems dealing with all areas within the department
  • Issue CPR’s and flow up on receiving material
  • Be able to read, understand, and work with appropriate managers / engineers on department specials
  • Institute and practice Lean Manufacturing ideas
  • Assist and help maintain safety in the department
  • Make labor / overtime recommendations to manager
  • Assist in training employees
  • Recommend disciplinary issues to manager
  • Thorough understanding of bills of materials
  • Demonstrate effective communication and listening skills
  • Identify / assist / oversee department training
  • Assist manager in conducting performance / attendance corrective action discussions
  • Participation the resolution of department conflict issues
  • Effectively deal with differing personalities in a motivational manner
  • Enforce policies and procedures
  • Assist in maintaining the Team Philosophy
  • Assist managers in helping maintain labor standards
  • Approve LOA and vacation in manager’s absence

Production

Assist with production as needed

Continuous Improvement

  • Document downtime reasons & review regularly with Lean Process Managers
  • Provide suggestions for improvements regularly
  • Foster an environment of continuous improvement and encourage suggestions from team members

Safety

  • Maintain a clean / safe working environment
  • Report any unsafe working conditions or equipment

QUALIFICATIONS

Education

High School Diploma or Equivalent, training, certification or education in Leadership, Operations Management, Business, or Lean Manufacturing helpful

Experience

Prior Leadership experience helpful

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

  • An understanding or ability to learn to use the BPCS system
  • Computer knowledge with email, Microsoft Word, & Excel
  • Thorough knowledge of product (or the ability to learn it) and having the ability to answer questions regarding the product specifications
