KHI Mechanical Services is Hiring a Safety Director Near West Valley, UT

Duties: Provide new hire safety orientation and training. Train employees on proper safety procedures. Learn OSHA standards and implement guidelines for field employees to follow the standards. Provide training programs for permit required safety issues. Provide training and certification for aerial lift and fork lift operator. Provide training and certification for excavator operator. Facilitate employee training in first aid and CPR and maintain training records. Facilitate foremen training in OSHA 30 hr class and document training records. Preview projects and project sites before work begins to determine safety related risks. Work with project management teams and field workers to develop and implement solutions to safety related issues on project sites. Visit active project sites to assess ongoing work conditions to ensure compliance.Identify safety related issues and risks on sites Work with the Foremen to design solutions to mitigate the risks. Ensure that safety and health hazards are corrected, eliminated, or guarded. Disciplining employees and subcontractors who fail to comply with minimum safety standards. Work with KHI tools to maintain safe tools and remove broken or unsafe tools from inventory. Provide proper PPE for field employees including: glasses, gloves, vests, and hard hats. Review subcontractors safety programs and ensure they are trained and documented for each job. Manage hazardous materials control program. Identify jobs with possible asbestos exposure and provide training for asbestos awareness and avoidance. Prepare quarterly safety training separately for both Foremen and Service Techs. Prepare quarterly awards for qualified participants

Paperwork: Maintain safety related paperwork including OSHA 300 logs.Maintain safety training certifications including OSHA OTI. Maintain SDS sheets for commonly used items. Maintain and update KHI safety manual. Maintain accident and near miss reports. Maintain accident claim with insurance company. Maintain insurance ratings paperwork and EMR. Maintain field reports including: pre-task plans, Job hazard analysis, stretch and flex, etc. Create site specific safety plans.

Skills Required: Good communications skills – the ability to communicate effectively both in the written and spoken word.Ability to listen – the ability to listen well and take in feedback from the employee perspective without passing judgment. Knowledge of OSHA standards and regulations pertaining to the specific trade or activity being managed.Good record keeping abilities – the Construction Safety Manager must be able to maintain good records of all safety related activities.Ability to access heights via ladders or scaffolding. A significant amount of construction work takes place at heights above ground level which require the Construction Safety Manager to be able to access the work to evaluate it.Knowledge of the specific skilled trade or type of work that their company does. This assists the Construction Safety Manager in being able to design and implement solutions for the company.Must have reliable vehicle to visit job sites

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $55,741.88 - $67,130.01 per year
