Project Manager Overview
Job Summary:
The Project Manager (PM) in FMD is responsible for managing design and execution of projects, some involving minor construction, from conception to turn over to operations. The PM leads project teams to successful project completion. The PM develops project definition and scope, methods of accomplishment and project schedule and cost baselines. Baselines include establishment of work activities, milestones and task schedules. PM reports project status and meets with ORNL senior management, DOE, and the ORNL customer.
U.S. Citizenship is required.

Manages multiple projects simultaneously.
Promotes and leads construction site safety.
Proficient in reading plans and specifications and contributing to their development.
Possesses a solid knowledge of PM best practices.
Coordinates activities among design groups and construction subcontractors to achieve overall objectives.
Reviews and approves design documents, change orders, material requisitions and specifications for construction or procurement use.
Develops basis of estimate and assists estimators with development of cost estimates.
Assists Work Center Manager with development of a rolling portfolio-level work plan.
Monitors project budget, schedules, scope and risk and provides transparency to the customer.
Follows UT-B project procedures.
Manages contingency, change orders, and contractor claims.
Maintains effective communication with the team, the customer and other stakeholders.
Resolves problems and conflicts within the project and the project team.
Conducts periodic project and customer meetings to promote and facilitate communication, review progress and performance, discuss issues and facilitate problem resolution.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
A bachelor's degree in engineering or construction management
A minimum of 8 years of experience supporting and managing facilities infrastructure projects.
Ability to obtain and maintain DOE Q Clearance.
Desired Qualifications:
Project Management Certification (PMP) from the Project Management Institute preferable
Experience required across the full project life cycle (initiation, planning, design, construction and startup/commissioning of projects)
Must be familiar with construction safety standards and their practical application in the field.
Ability to prepare and provide presentations to senior management.
Ability to lead and develop teams in project delivery.
Must understand risk management and its practical application to projects.
Must have strong interpersonal skills.
Ability to obtain a clearance.
