Key Lakes, Inc., a subsidiary of Keystone Shipping Co., is searching for a full-time Fleet Purchasing Agent in the Duluth, Minnesota, office. Key Lakes, Inc. is the operator of nine self-unloading bulk carriers operating on the Great Lakes under the Great Lakes Fleet brand. Candidates must be comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic business environment and have strong communication skills. The Fleet Purchasing Agent, reporting to the Purchasing Manager, is responsible for the administration, procurement, logistics and contracting of all goods and services required for efficient and cost effective operation of the fleet.

Job responsibilities include:

· Receive and process purchase requisitions for spare parts and consumables as submitted by vessel’s Captain, Chief Engineer and Steward.

· Process service and repair requisitions submitted by the vessel’s Chief Engineer and shoreside personnel.

· Prepare purchase orders or other contract documents as required for procurement of all goods and services.

· Build relations and interface with vendors and suppliers, always looking for new providers

· Provide logistical support for the shipping and delivery of materials, interfacing with vendors.

· Verify receipt of materials and completion of services. Resolve discrepancies with suppliers.

· Receive and process invoices, insuring timely approval and payment.

· Provide input in annual budget and business plan development; and oversight in fiscal management.

Candidates must meet the following qualifications:

· Minimum of a High School diploma. Bachelor’s degree in business administration, logistics or related field preferred.

· At least two (2) years experience in the purchasing, accounting or logistics fields.

· Demonstrated experience in negotiating prices or terms and conditions

· Working knowledge of MS Office and commercial purchasing software (e.g. NS5)

· Prior employment in the maritime industry or related field preferred

· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

· A strong analytical mindset

· Outstanding organizational skills

The position requires relocation to the Duluth, MN area.
