POSITION DESCRIPTION

POSITION:* LABORER*

Two (2) Part-time, Non-exempt positions at 40 hours/week

LOCATION: Housing Department

SUPERVISORY CONTROL: Maintenance Director

SALARY: Grade 4 (Minimum starting wage = $16.47/hour)

QUALIFICATIONS:

· High School Diploma/GED or equivalent is required.

o This qualification may be waived for individuals 55 years of age or older who meet the remainder of the qualifications listed below.

o This qualification may also be waived for KBIC members working toward obtaining their GED who meet the remainder of the qualifications listed below.

· Ability to understand verbal and written instructions.

· Ability to operate and maintain required tools and equipment used in the work.

· Must be aware of safe work methods and safety practices pertaining to the work.

· Ability to climb ladders to heights of up to 40 ft. and crawl for distances of 50 feet.

· Ability to lift and manipulate objects of up to 80 lbs. for 50 ft. is required.

· Employment is contingent upon the satisfactory result of a Security Background Check, pre-employment drug testing, and pre-employment physical.

INDIAN PREFERENCE:Preference will be given to qualified individuals of American Indian descent.

VETERAN PREFERENCE: Preference will also be given to Veterans who do not have bad

conduct or dishonorable discharges (need DD214).

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Performs manual laborer duties, including: shoveling, hauling debris, loading and unloading a truck, digging trenches, etc.

2. May operate air hammers, compactors, cement mixers, small mechanical hoists, survey equipment, and a variety of other small and heavy equipment.

3. Performs general maintenance work, including painting, general repairs, basic electrical and plumbing maintenance, etc.

4. May clean and prep trenches, set braces to support the sides of excavations, erect scaffolding, and clean debris and other waste materials.

5. Must adhere to safe work practices including using sound, independent judgment within policy and procedural guidelines.

6. May be exposed to normal hazards associated with the construction environment, including variable weather conditions, noise, and dust.

7. Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Pay: From $16.47 per hour
