KEWAUNEE SCIENTIFIC CORPORATION is Hiring a Facilities Maintenance Team Leader Near Statesville, NC

SUMMARY

The Facilities Maintenance Team Leader will be responsible for coordinating and executing all aspects of facility maintenance, repair, and improvement projects. This individual will lead a team of maintenance technicians and ensure that our facilities meet safety, regulatory, and operational standards.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. 

  • Supervise a team of maintenance technicians, assigning tasks, providing guidance, and monitoring performance to ensure high-quality work. Ensuring multiple projects are executed and managed timely.
  • Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs to minimize downtime, extend equipment lifespan, and optimize facility operations.
  • Coordinate and prioritize maintenance requests, responding promptly to emergencies and addressing urgent issues to minimize disruption to operations.
  • Conduct regular inspections of facilities, identifying maintenance needs, safety hazards, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Oversee routine maintenance tasks, including HVAC systems, plumbing, electrical systems, building structures, and grounds maintenance.
  • Initiate the bid process/quotes for necessary outside vendor work performed. Draft and submit CAR’s.
  • Assist in justification and ROI analysis including documentation.
  • Coordinate with external contractors and vendors for specialized repairs, renovations, and equipment installations.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment inventory, and work orders, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor budget allocations and expenses related to facility maintenance, seeking cost-effective solutions and identifying areas for improvement.
  • Implement safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment for employees and compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Collaborate with other departments, such as operations, safety, and procurement, to support company goals and initiatives.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Leads the Facilities Maintenance Department Technicians. Carries out frontline leader responsibilities in accordance with the organizations policies and applicable laws.Responsibilities include technical direction of Maintenance Associates. Works with the Manager to make recommendations for associate performance appraisals and improvements, rewards and discipline and addressing complaints/resolving problems immediately. 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical certification or training preferred.
  • Five plus years of experience in facilities maintenance, with 5 plus years in a leadership or supervisory role.
  • Strong knowledge of building systems, equipment, and maintenance best practices.
  • Proven leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a diverse team of maintenance technicians.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with a proactive approach to identifying and addressing maintenance issues.
  • Solid organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally with employees, contractors, and vendors.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and compliance standards related to facility maintenance.
  • Proficiency in using maintenance management software and other relevant tools. 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High School Diploma or equivalent. Additional technical certification or training preferred. A minimum of 5 years’ experience in Facilities Maintenance Department with experience leading maintenance Associates.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and standard operating procedures. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence and to speak effectively before group of customers or employees.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

The employee is occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals, and extreme cold. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
