Kewaunee County is Hiring a WIC Breastfeeding Peer Counselor Near Kewaunee, WI
The Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) Peer Counselor provides basic breastfeeding information and encouragement to pregnant and breastfeeding mothers accessing WIC. We are looking for a para-professional who has breastfed an infant for 6 months or more within the past 7 years. The successful candidate will be excited to promote the benefits of breastfeeding and will not be a credentialed or licensed health care provider, lactation specialist, or IBCLC. With support and supervision, you will administer all program activities within the guidelines of the State’s program quality criteria. This is a grant-funded position with a wage of $17.00 per hour, average of 8-25 hours per month. Must have a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent and valid driver’s license. Upon hire, complete the WIC Breastfeeding Peer Counselor Training and obtain 25 hours of continuing education every 5 years. Flexibility to work outside 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. work hours. Ability to drive from location to location.
