Kewa Pueblo Health Corporation kphc is Hiring a Security Guard Near Kewa, NM

POSITION PURPOSE:
The Security Guard is responsible for protective services in guarding the Kewa Pueblo Health Center, property and safeguarding occupants, visitors, and patients in and around the Health Center and other designated areas per program policies.

PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS:
In performance of their respective tasks and duties all employees of the Kewa Pueblo Health Center are expected to conform to the following:
  • Uphold all principles of confidentiality and patient care to the fullest extent.
  • Adhere to all professional and ethical behavior standards of the healthcare industry.
  • Interact in an honest, trustworthy, and dependable manner with patients, employees, and vendors.
  • Possess cultural awareness and sensitivity.
  • Maintain a current insurable driver’s license.
  • Comply with all Kewa Pueblo Health Corporation and Santo Domingo Health Center policies and procedures, as well

ESSENTIAL DUTIES, FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Controls personnel access by monitoring the identification of individuals entering controlled areas; refers persons who lack proper credentials to a control point to arrange access; issues verbal admonishments for personally observed violations of rules and regulations.

  • Patrols prescribed areas on an installation (by vehicle or foot) to check alarms, locks, fences, gates, or other barriers to ensure they are closed and locked or open and unlocked, depending upon the time of the day and the conditions that apply; Patrols installation perimeters to detect faulty fences and detection equipment, trespassing violations, and attempted thefts of the Health Center or personal property.

Patrols the Health Center and surrounding grounds to prevent theft or damage to property, equipment, tools, supplies, and other real or personal property. Shows visual presence to prevent any attempts of property damage. De-escalates by verbal communication to persons in a disturbance/incident or subdues individuals causing disturbances, such as in family disputes at the Health Center; identifies and detains violators based upon eyewitness accounts.

  • Performs coordinator duties involving the transportation of patients, coordinating emergency responses between security, fire, and other emergency units, and receiving and acting on calls concerning reports of violations or complaints; performs customer service activities on-site; follows restraint and physical force policies including weapons and drugs; enforces patient escort activities per policies; protects all assigned equipment, vehicles and supplies and accompanies Tribal Officers responding to complaints or reports of alleged disturbances and/or potential crimes. May direct traffic during external or internal disaster drills or actual situations.

  • Prepares various kinds of legible written reports per Security policies such as incident reporting, shift logs, and other administrative reports as requested; reports can include individuals such as complainants, witnesses, disruptive employees, disruptive visitors, about unsafe conditions, storage or location of materials (including personal property) that are vulnerable to theft or damage, accident reports, or any other kind of reports that describe events as they happened and that could be used in future actions.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.


MINIMUM MANDATORY QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
  • Successful completion of training in an accredited technical school that covered subjects such as physical security procedures, local laws, or investigative techniques is considered qualifying for specialized experience
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
Experience:
  • Prior work with a Federal, State, municipal, local, or private protective organization that involved the protection of property against such hazards as fire, theft, damage, accident, or trespass; or maintaining order and protecting life. Such experience must have provided knowledge of protective systems and techniques. Acceptable experience includes services in the Armed Services or Coast Guard that involved the performance of guard duties on a regular or intermittent basis. Candidates must have 26 weeks of general experience and 26 weeks of specialized experience to qualify.
Mandatory Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of commonly used rules, procedures, and operations to perform work independently in a variety of fixed posts, and patrol assignments within the area of the Health Center or parking areas. Formal classroom and/or on-the-job training outlines the scope of jurisdictional boundaries, defines the levels of a security officer's authority, and prepares a security officer to perform a variety of recurring activities within an assigned installation.

  • Knowledge of established policies and rules, procedures and methods of Health Center operations, and protective responsibilities over Health Center property, employees, and visitors at a health facility installation or comparable civilian installation. Ability to provide customer service in a patient care setting.

  • Knowledge of special operating requirements, methods, and procedures is used in protecting and preventing unauthorized access to areas containing confidential documents that could affect public health or safety; detaining violators who attempt to resist; subduing violent patients in the health center.

  • Ability to write legible reports with proper English, grammar, spelling, etc.

  • Skill intact and diplomacy when dealing with irate individuals.

  • Ability to work long hours with periods of stressful situations.

  • Knowledge of required safety devices utilized in security services.

  • Ability to work with people with a wide variety of backgrounds and occupations.

  • Must have basic operating knowledge of electronic access control and surveillance systems (CCTV).
  • Knowledge of access badge software and ability to create access badge(s) for new employees.
  • Knowledge of basic operating panic alarm systems within the Behavioral Health department.
  • Employee may be required to physically restrain other individuals on occasion.
  • Must have active and current certification of physical force and physical restraint training.

  • A record of satisfactory performance in all prior and current employment as evidenced by positive employment references from previous and current employers.

  • Ability to perform other duties as assigned.

  • Familiarity with the mandatory reporting requirements under the Indian Child Protection Act, about suspected incidences of child abuse or child neglect.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Associate's Degree in Criminal Justice or security experience in a health care setting.
  • Bilingual skills in English and the Keres native language.
  • Prior experience working with Indian Health Services (IHS), a Tribe or Tribal Organization.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the primary functions of this job. Normal office conditions exist, and the noise level in the work environment can vary from low to moderate. This position may be exposed to certain health risks that are inherent when working within a health center facility.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the primary functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to frequently stand, walk, sit, bend, twist, talk, and hear. There may be prolonged periods of standing, walking, sitting, keyboarding, reading, as well as driving or riding in transport vehicles. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include reading, distance, computer, and color vision. Talking and hearing are essential to communicating with patients, vendors, and staff.

MENTAL DEMANDS:
There are a number of deadlines associated with this position. The employee must also multi-task and interact with a wider variety of people on various and, at times, complicated issues.
