SUMMARY: KOG Program Director/Assistant PrincipalNorthshore Education Consortium is an Educational Collaborative.The Kevin O’Grady school is a substantially separate public day school educating over 100 students with severe special needs. The school has a strong multidisciplinary team model.. Position Summary: This position is one of two Program Director positions, reporting to the school Principal. Each Program Director oversees 10-15 classrooms serving students with severe disabilities including autism, intellectual disabilities, and a complex array of medical, physical, and sensory disabilities.The Program Director/Assistant Principal will have primary oversight of the classrooms serving students with autism and intellectual disabilities. This will include oversight of daily operations, working with teachers on academic and vocational programming, coordinating with BCBA, OT, PT, Nursing and SLP leaders to assure all IEP needs are met, and coordinating MCAS-Alt. In addition, the Program Director will oversee the IEP process and facilitate IEP meetings for students in these classrooms. The ideal candidate will be a mission-driven special educator, who is committed to seeing every student achieve their maximum potential. They will be committed to multidisciplinary teamwork, cultural proficiency, and evidenced based practices. Professional MA licensure as a Special Education Teacher or Administrator is required. 5 years of teaching experience and at least 3 years of supervisory experience in a similar setting is strongly preferred.Diverse candidates are strongly encouraged to apply.This individual will work alongside the Principal to ensure the smooth day-to-day operation of the school and participate in strategic planning and major decision-making processes. He/she will share responsibility for curriculum development at Kevin O’Grady School, engage fully in the process of providing support for the Leadership Team and ensuring effective collaboration. He/she will share responsibility for supervision and evaluation of teachers and work with the Principal to recruit new staff. The Program Director will fully support the mission, vision and values of the school. REPORTS TO: Principal, Kevin O’Grady SchoolESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (Other duties may be assigned)•Work with the Principal at the Kevin O’Grady School to carry out the Educator Evaluation Process.•Oversees program operation and program staff in the absence of the principal•Promote student learning, growth, and achievement by providing Educators with feedback for improvement, enhancing opportunities for professional growth, and clear structures for accountability.•Supervise Kevin O’Grady School Teachers/Educators on an ongoing basis, identifying and providing support as necessary.•Observe and conference with teachers regarding instructional practices and make appropriate recommendations.•Represent the academic component (by incorporating the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks and Common Core State Standards) of the school leadership team.•Research best practices of instruction in special education across the curriculum.•Collaborate with the Principal and Leadership Team on the development and implementation of curriculum at Kevin O’Grady School and assure compliance with DESE/ Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks and Common Core State Standards.•Oversee Massachusetts Comprehensive Assessment System/Alternate Assessment (MCAS-Alt) within the program and assist teachers with adapting and using the state’s learning standards to instruct and assess students. •Monitor teachers’ planning and check that DESE requirements are being met.•Ensure that teachers working within the program are engaged in collaborative planning.•Plan and deliver regular, learning-focused teacher department meetings or Professional Learning Communities.•Stay up to date with trends in DESE curriculum development, instructional methodology and accommodations, serving as a resource for teachers.•Develop student evaluation and assessment procedures in conjunction with teacher department to increase cohesiveness within the program clusters at Kevin O’Grady School.•Assist teachers in developing and implementing IEP goals and objectives. •Attend and facilitate IEP meetings, as needed.•Assist with ordering necessary materials for teacher department (academic/educational curriculum, classroom items, state testing requirements).SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Is responsible for supervision of employees.QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
