Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Accounting to oversee our financial operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in regulatory reporting, financial statement preparation, financial analysis, debits and credits, financial report writing, corporate accounting, and compliance.
Duties:
- Under the direction of the Corporate Controller, this position will lead the in preparing accurate and timely financial statements
- Oversee the preparation of regulatory reports and ensure compliance with all financial regulations including preparation of the monthly bordereaux for changes in premiums
- Conduct financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement
- Manage the corporate accounting function, including general ledger maintenance and reconciliation
- Develop and implement internal controls in compliance with regulations
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA certification preferred
- Minimum of five (5) years of progressive accounting experience with at least three (3) years in an insurance accounting role
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and experience with complex financial transactions
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to present complex financial information to stakeholders
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills and a high level of accuracy
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel
