Job Overview:
As the Director of Food Safety at Keurig Dr Pepper (KDP), you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and quality of our products. You’ll be responsible for overseeing all aspects of food safety, regulatory compliance, and quality assurance. Leading in a matrix organization, the position will provide strategic direction for the evaluation, design and implementation of quality programs across multiple company-owned and contract manufacturing sites. Your leadership will contribute to maintaining and improving on KDP’s reputation as a trusted brand in the beverage industry.

Key Responsibilities:

Risk Assessment and Mitigation
:
  • Constantly monitor and assess potential sources of food safety risks within the organization.
  • Develop strategies to mitigate risks and prevent foodborne illnesses.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address safety concerns promptly.

Policy Development and Implementation
:
  • Create and update food safety policies, guidelines, and protocols.
  • Ensure consistent implementation of these policies across all facilities and departments.
  • Stay informed about industry trends and regulatory changes to adapt policies accordingly.

Quality Assurance and Compliance
:
  • Work closely with production, supply chain, and quality teams to maintain product quality and safety.
  • Conduct regular audits, inspections, network wide assessments and dashboards to verify compliance with food safety standards and drive continuous improvement.
  • Address any non-compliance issues promptly and implement corrective actions.

Training and Education
:
  • Develop and deliver food safety training programs for employees at all levels.
  • Foster an engaging culture of food safety awareness and accountability.
  • Keep the workforce informed about best practices and emerging food safety trends.

Collaboration and Communication
:
  • Collaborate with senior leadership, operations, R&D, Legal, and our process authority to align food safety goals with business objectives from product conception through end of life cycle.
  • Communicate food safety updates, incidents, and improvements to relevant stakeholders.
  • Represent Keurig Dr Pepper in industry forums and regulatory meetings.

Continuous Improvement
:
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives related to food safety and quality assurance.
  • Analyze data, identify areas for enhancement, and implement process improvements.
  • Champion a proactive approach to food safety rather than a reactive one.

Ensure high performance results of your team by:
  • Fostering a culture of trust and wellbeing that prioritizes the team and values employee contributions
  • Driving a shared vision with clear goals and accountability, supported by regular conversations to maximize talent
  • Embracing diverse perspectives to foster innovation, learning from both successes and failures
  • Establishing a safe environment where team members are motivated, heard, and aligned with clear expectations
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Microbiology, or a related field (advanced degree preferred).
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in food safety, quality assurance, or related roles.
  • A deep understanding of World Class Quality organizations and standards.
  • Strong working knowledge of FDA, USDA, Codex, WHO, EFSA, Safe Quality Food (SQF) and Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP) and other relevant regulations.
  • Experience in managing food safety programs across multiple sites.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven track record of exceptional results in team development and continuous improvement.
  • Ability to regularly travel for business; work a flexible schedule as needed; and travel for other business needs.
