Kettle Falls School District is Hiring a Speech Language Pathologist Near Kettle Falls, WA

Description

Provide and coordinate comprehensive speech and language programs and services to communication disabled students within the assigned area.

Provide both direct and indirect services, including teacher and parent consultation as may be necessary and appropriate.

Responsibilities

  1. Assist school personnel, parents, and community agencies in obtaining appropriate programming for communication disabled students through evaluations, consultations, therapy, and demonstration teaching relating to individual students.
  2. Ensure implementation of screening and follow-up evaluation procedures utilized to identify communication disabled students as per WAC 392-172A.
  3. Utilize appropriate diagnostic instruments and techniques for determining essential IEP goal statements and related service needs.
  4. Provide remedial and/or developmental instruction to individual students requiring speech and language services.
  5. Monitor the effectiveness of therapeutic programs for individual students and adjust services accordingly.
  6. Provide and maintain complete records and reports for every student receiving assessment, instructional, and habilitative services.
  7. Provide for the improvement of speech and language programs, services, and instruction offered to students through in-service training of parents, teachers, SLP assistants, aides, and volunteers.
  8. Ensure continuity and coordination of speech and language services in assigned school(s) by providing for interoffice communication and relations with multi-disciplinary team members and other special education programs via the regional coordinator.
  9. Provide ongoing program planning and evaluation reports as may be required.
  10. Ensure the application of current educational practice and maintenance of clinical competency by participating in staff development activities.
  11. Be responsible for monitoring and assuring compliance with all district policy/procedures and rules and regulations (e.g., eligibility, evaluation, and placement) as specified for disabled students within WAC 392-172A.
  12. Perform other duties as may be assigned by the respective area coordinator.

Qualifications

  1. Valid ESA certificate in related area of specialty or the ability to obtain conditional certification.
  2. Master's degree in speech and language pathologist or closely related field.
  3. Demonstrated understanding of the essential requirements within IDEA and its application to the provision of compliant services for the disabled.
  4. Ability to work cooperatively with a diverse group of parents, teachers, and administrators in providing direct and indirect services to disabled students in a confidential manner.
  5. Previous experience as a speech and language pathologist or in closely related field within a public school setting preferred.
  6. Ability to express thoughts concisely and effectively.
  7. Knowledge of sign language and augmentative communication preferred.
  8. Relates positively to youth and adults of varying socio-economics, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT and Salary:

As outlined by and in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement (CBA) of Kettle Falls Education Association (KFEA) and Policies and Procedures of Kettle Falls School District. The salary range for teachers in the Kettle Falls School District is between $52,440 and $96,772 per school year. Placement is defined within the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) and is generally based upon a combination of Education and Experience. Other forms of compensation may be available to the hired applicant in addition to their established salary range or wage scale as defined within the current collective bargaining agreement (CBA).

Each employee shall accumulate twelve (12) days of sick leave per year. An employee employed less than a full term shall be entitled to a proportionate part of the sick leave allowance Each employee shall earn five (5) annual leave days per year. Employees less than 1.0 FTE will receive a prorated share of annual leave based on their percentage of FTE.

Employees anticipated to work more than 630 hours per year will be eligible for Benefits through the School Employees Benefits Board (SEBB) Standard benefits include Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, and Long-Term Disability. Positions anticipated to work 70 hours or more per month for at least 5 months over the school year are eligible for Retirement through the State Department of Retirement Services.

Verification of identity and United States work authorization must be completed before employment commences. The successful candidate for this position must be fingerprinted. Employment is contingent upon clearance by the Washington State Patrol and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
