JOB SUMMARYOrganizes the hospital labor and productivity budget process. Works with administration, directors, and staffto ensure ongoing communication and efforts to achieve corporate goals for financial improvement/costreduction. Identifies key drivers, analyzes variances, trends and options while making recommendations toensure Hamilton Hospital meets its financial objectives. This position is also responsible for establishing theannual budget and leading the planning process for labor and non-labor budget development. Completesother duties as assigned.
JOB REQUIREMENTSMinimum EducationBachelor’s degree in accounting or business or equivalent work experience.MBA Degree or completion of CPA exam preferredMinimum Work ExperienceProgressive experience in finance or accounting role. Healthcare industry experience preferred.Required Skills• Basic accounting skills, a broad understanding of healthcare finance, and basic understanding of budgetingprinciples• Expertise in computer applications, analytical skills using software such as Microsoft Excel, PowerBI andother analytical tools• Effective interpersonal communication and ability to explain finance concepts in layman’s terms so that allstaff can understand.• Organizational skills to work with complex, multi-step projects that report to different leaders in the hospital
FUNCTIONAL DEMANDSEssential Functions• Complete the FTE request list for Executive Council (EC) each week and review with FTE review committeeprior to EC. Include dollar impact for any new positions/upgrades. Communicate status of positions torequestors and EFG applicable.• Provide training to department leaders on productivity and financial tools as requested• Support the financial planning of the hospital by analyzing its performance and risks related to currentoperations, opportunities to expand profitable services.• Work with Business Development to develop ROI and feasibility of services and programs.Job Description Report• Perform timely actual vs. budget analysis. This includes analyzing and explaining variances, identifying trendsand implications to support leadership with its short- and long-term financial objectives.• Facilitate the bi-weekly productivity review (BSR) and monthly operational review (MOR) meetings withhospital leadership.• Collaborate with Network Finance staff on month-end and year-end close process including preparingsupporting documentation for monthly pre-close meeting with other KHN Hospital Financial Leadership.• Lead the annual budget development for the hospital’s direct care and support functions as well as thecapital budget planning process and management.• Develop and maintain custom reports and dashboards to better facilitate tracking of key metrics relative tothe overall hospital operations and individual department operations. Work with senior leaders to developreports and financial tools to analyze impact of department activities.• Provide oversight and supervision of the physician contracting and payment process which is conducted bythe Senior Financial Analyst.Monthly Close• Work with Network finance and hospital staff to prepare appropriate accruals
