The Opportunity for Impact:

Put yourself at the intersection of LGBTQ rights, Jewish identity, and the broader movement for social justice in American society. Keshet seeks a dynamic and experienced educator to join a phenomenal team. The Greater Boston Education and Training Manager is responsible for Keshet’s Education and Training work with Jewish organizations throughout the Greater Boston area, with occasional work elsewhere in New England as needed.

The Greater Boston Education and Training Manager will build on Keshet’s history and deep relationships in the Boston area and beyond to sustain Keshet's robust presence as the go-to LGBTQ resource for Jewish institutions throughout the region. They will offer excellent training, workshops, and consultation, equipping organizations and leaders to further Keshet’s mission for full LGBTQ equality and belonging in Jewish life.

The Greater Boston Education & Training Manager reports to the Associate Director of Cohort Learning and works with Keshet staff across the country. We will consider candidates located in or prepared to relocate to the Greater Boston area.

As an organization that teaches the importance of proactive LGBTQ inclusive messages and actions, Keshet recognizes the similar need to make our commitment to racial equity and justice clear and explicit. We commit to embed a racial equity and justice lens into Keshet’s leadership and staff structure, political analysis, organizational policies, communications, and program content.

Keshet's national office is in Boston with offices in San Francisco, Chicago, South Florida, Texas, and New York, as well, and other staff across the United States.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and implement all aspects of Keshet’s Education & Training work in the Greater Boston region.
  • Devote approximately 75% of their time to outreach and Education & Training work in the Greater Boston area, with approximately 25% of their time spent elsewhere in New England as needed.
  • Build continued momentum for Keshet’s local education and training work, and lift up Keshet’s profile within the community, through proactive outreach and relationship-building with Jewish institutions.
  • Facilitate LGBTQ inclusion trainings and workshops and provide consultation to Jewish institutions throughout Greater Boston.
  • Develop training content in response to articulated needs from Jewish organizations in the Boston area, which may include content that differs from other national and regional training content based on the unique needs and deep history with Keshet these organizations may have.
  • Oversee and implement annual regional cohorts of Shivyon: Keshet’s Equality Project, Keshet’s signature institutional change program. This includes recruitment of participating organizations, facilitation of follow-up trainings, and coaching, logistical and facilitation support for the launch and follow-up sessions.
  • Along with other local Boston staff, serve as a local “face” of Keshet in the Greater Boston area, attending select local and regional gatherings to represent Keshet.
  • Coordinate and support post-training evaluation and provide follow-up support and resources to participants.
  • Occasionally contribute to Keshet’s national Education & Training portfolio of work, including contributing to Keshet’s resource library, representing Keshet at select national gatherings, and facilitating or co-facilitating online projects for a national audience as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Passionate commitment to Keshet’s vision and mission of advancing LGBTQ equality in Jewish life.
  • Experience and comfort facilitating engaging, interactive LGBTQ inclusion trainings and educational programming both in person and online.
  • Extensive knowledge of LGBTQ identities and experiences and the ability to articulate the intersections among diverse Jewish and LGBTQ identities.
  • Excellent relationship-building skills with an ability to prioritize, negotiate, and work with a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to work with organizations at various places on the spectrum of belonging and to support growth no matter the starting point of an organization.
  • Experience with institutional diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts.
  • Ability to skillfully navigate the Jewish communal landscape.
  • Positive outlook, strong interpersonal skills, and experience in cultivating and sustaining strong relationships with colleagues and organizational partners.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills and ability to communicate effectively with a variety of audiences.
  • Excellent analytical, planning, and project management skills.
  • Commitment to bring a racial justice and gender equity lens to programs/work products as well as staff culture.
  • Ability to bring a disability access and justice lens to the work, including designing and delivering programs with access in mind and bringing this commitment to supervision and staff culture.
  • Ease working with colleagues in multiple geographic locations and using technology to facilitate daily work and collaborative projects.
  • Firm understanding of the importance of up-to-date data management; experience with CRM a plus.
  • Comfortable with the ambiguity that sometimes occurs in a fast-paced organization, and flexible enough to meet changing demands.
  • Significant knowledge of Jewish tradition, identity, and experience is preferred; ease working across a wide range of Jewish communities is essential.
  • Ability to travel regularly within New England.

Travel:

  • Regular travel throughout New England
  • 4-6 trips per year in the United States, beyond New England

Remote vs Office:

The Greater Boston Education and Training Manager will be expected to work out of Keshet's office in Newton, MA at least 2 days per week (currently Tuesdays and Thursdays).

Compensation and Benefits:

$58,000-$74,000 annually.

Salary is based on related experience, expertise, and internal equity; generally, new hires can expect pay between the minimum and midpoint of the range.
