Local underground utility contractor seeking EXPERIENCED HEAVY EQUIPMENT OPERATOR for excavator and/or wheeled loader (2 yrs. experience preferred) for underground water and sewer installation. Applicants are required to pass a pre-employment drug screen, have a valid driver’s license and RELIABLE transportation to job sites in the Omaha and surrounding areas. Applicants must work well with others and be familiar with OSHA safety protocols. General knowledge of construction tools, equipment and concrete work a plus. Work days are Monday thru Friday, 7am to 5:30pm & Saturday during peak season. Competitive wages based on experience. Heavy Equipment Operator – Job Description/Duties

1. Responsible for assisting in completion of projects while following all company and safety policies.

2. Responsible for the safe operation of wheeled loaders, excavators, backhoes, skid steers and other general construction equipment.

3. Fuel, grease and maintain equipment by checking all fluids DAILY including, but not limited to: engine oil, antifreeze, transmission fluid, hydraulic fluid & final drives.

4. Maintain safe work area by following OSHA safety protocol for trenching, shoring etc..

5. Maintain communication with all crew members and foreman for proper installation of product, as well as the safety of others.

6. Ability to understand and follow grade with skill and quality workmanship.

7. Ability to anticipate project needs and place material appropriately to keep crew moving without delay.

8. Assist in the training of new hires by providing direction & guidance as needed.

9. Communicate when maintenance or repairs are needed on equipment.

10. Possible reduction in hours/layoff during winter months depending on weather.

11. All other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

1. Must be available to work Monday thru Friday 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Saturday’s 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m as needed, due to weather conditions and project needs.

2. Occasional after hours required for water main breaks, snow removal or other utility emergencies.

3. Must have valid driver’s license and RELIABLE transportation to/from jobsites.

4. Must be able to lift /-50 lbs to/from ground level to truck level.

5. Must be able to sit for long periods of time.

6. Ability to climb in and out of equipment repeatedly.

7. Ability to rotate upper body/head to check surroundings.

8. Assist pipe crew and foreman with other duties as needed, including training of hew hires.

9. Must be able to read a tape measure and follow grade as stated above.

10. Must be able to read and speak English.

11. Must understand and follow OSHA safety regulations.

12. Ability to work well and safely with others.

13. Punctual attendance each day.
