About the role

The Supply Chain Manager is responsible for all the aspects of the supply chain for the site. Manages raw material and MCO ordering processes, production scheduling, and material flow between the plant and the warehouse. Manages inventory control activities as well as shipping activities. Demonstrates leadership in the area of safety first, quality always. This requires observing and enforcing safety rules and practices, encouraging safe work behaviors, membership in the onsite safety committee, and promptly correcting conditions and unsafe behavior, which may lead to accidents. Continually endorse the Quality & Food Safety Policies, assure conformance to all requirements of the Quality & Food Safety Management Systems, active member of the Food Safety Team, & takes action to properly report failures of these systems to site management. Reporting to the Site Manager with a dotted line to the Taste Supply Chain Manager, this person will lead all supply chain management processes and activities across the supply site to the benefit of external and internal customers and Kerry supply chain operations. The role will also ensure that the following activities are planned, organized and controlled to meet agreed targets and KPI’s set, from receipt of order through to dispatch to customer at lowest total cost.

Key responsibilities

1. Responsible for budgeted cost structure associated with the above
2. Custodian of the customer and business rules to ensure optimal supply to markets and customers. Actively manage the customer service department to meet customer’s needs
3. Creation of a “doable” and monthly rolling supply chain plan of what we are going to sell, hold in stock and production capacity for the site. Communicate this to the business as often as needed, together with the supply chain implications of the plan.
4. Set stock levels for finished products, including minimum inventory levels, batch sizes and frequency of manufacture in agreement with supply chain and production colleagues.
5. Set stock levels for bought in raw materials stocks and ensure call off on time to meet production requirements in agreement with purchasing business rules.
6. Minimize the total costs of supply to include stockholding costs, write offs and delivery costs to customers.
7. Coordinate and influence sales and operational planning activities, including the chairing of monthly meetings to reduce and maintain a live portfolio of products, obtain clarity of new product launch dates, volumes and rules, get slow moving stock sold and negotiating with internal departments to increase stock velocity.
8. Ensure that operations are scheduled on time to meet customer’s requirements and achieve a balance between responsiveness and stability through a focused results oriented approach with an ability to challenge the status quo and provide pragmatic solutions.
9. Maintain parameters to ensure accurate scheduling of production and optimization of raw material stocks.
10. Ensure clear and efficient communication within all areas above. Drive cost and stock reduction programs. Take charge of supply chain projects from launch through to completion.
11. Control departmental staff and develop departmental short term key issues and ensure they are monitored on a regular basis. . Ensure that training needs are identified, assessed and actioned at all levels to generate optimum efficiency and performance. Recruit appropriate caliber of people as required.
12. Report customer service and other supply chain metrics such as cost, inventory turns etc, root cause non compliance and work with senior management to ensure target customer service levels are attained, maintained as defined by the needs of the business and continually improved to raise levels of service.
13. Ensure that relevant health and safety, and food hygiene and safety standards are maintained at all times within each department.
14. Manage inventory and stock at risk, aging materials and opportunities for use.
15. As a member of the Operations Management team, to participate and contribute as necessary in the successful development of the site.

Qualifications and skills

  • Relevant degree and supply chain qualification.
  • Good experience in MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
  • SAP experience is essential.
Evidence of:
o Supply chain management (including “tactical” planning) experience within food manufacturing.
o Experience of managing process and people improvement.
o Establishing/demonstrating/reviewing K.P.I’s to meet operational needs through effective collection, analysis, interpretation and dissemination of information.
o Focus on critical areas of performance.
o Service to other food manufacturers/processors.
o Budgetary control.
o High level of numeracy and ability to create and manipulate spreadsheets and access information on IT systems.
o Understanding of best practices in the supply chain and either a professional supply chain qualification or working towards obtaining it.

The typical hiring range for this role is $105,129 to $159,134 annually and is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, location, etc. In addition to your pay, Kerry offers benefits such as a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and retirement contribution (all benefits and incentives are subject to eligibility requirements.
