We are looking for a highly motivated and innovative candidate for a 6-month co-op role in our Research group focusing on rare disease like Pulmonary Hypertension. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a significant impact in the discovery and development of next-generation therapies. The candidate will gain valuable industry experience and receive extensive training in vivo and ex vivo research. In addition, a successful candidate will be inquisitive about science and capable of troubleshooting by reviewing literature/colleagues and designing experiments to test hypotheses.
Responsibilities:
* Willingness to work with rodents. This includes animal handling, dosing (IP/IV/SC/PO), bleeding, necropsy, tissue collection and wet lab sample processing.
* Some basic molecular biology techniques: RNA isolation, qPCR, Western Blot, ELISA
* Maintain clear, accurate records of experimental details and summarize data as needed in study reports.
* Pay attention to details and provide updates at team meetings.
Qualifications:
* Students with major in physiology, biology, biochemistry, or related majors.
* Interest in cardiovascular physiology preferred but not required.
* Prior experience with laboratory animals (rodents), open to learning and perfecting rodent handling and dosing techniques.
* Interest in a future career in cardiovascular research and be open to performing in vivo and ex vivo bench work.
* Ability to work as part of a cross-functional team as well as independently with supervision.
* Excellent communication and organization skills, good working knowledge of MS office, and data plotting.
