Position Details
Under the direction of the Lead Infection Preventionist, is responsible for implementing, maintaining and coordinating the infection control program for the Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF), which includes observation, analysis of data, conducting assessments and developing a strategy to address infection concerns. Consults with Centers for Disease Control (CDC), Association of Professionals in Infection Control (APIC), and the county and state health departments ensuring compliance with state and federal requirements.
Collaborates with the Education department in providing infection prevention orientation and in-service programs related to infection prevention for the SNF. Participates as an integral team member with various committees, which includes the Infection Control, CQI and IDT committees.
Must be able to effectively communicate in English; both verbal and written. Must have good interpersonal skills and interface professionally, tactfully and respectfully with patients, staff, general public and governmental agency reps. Basic computer skills required. Licensed Vocation Nurse currently licensed in the State of California. Two to five years of experience in a variety of nursing areas. Certificate in Infection Prevention required by CMS guideline and CDC recommendation. Member of Association of Professionals in Infection Control (APIC) preferred.
