Compensation
The estimated pay for this position is $39.4395 to $54.4015. The rates shown include a 6% premium pay (base= $-$ plus 6%). This reflects only a portion of the total compensation package for this position. Additional compensation may be available for this role through differentials, incentives, and bonuses. In addition, this position may be eligible for participation and company contributions into the Kern County Employees’ Retirement Plan.
Job Description
Level I and II:
Under direction, performs a variety of laboratory tests in various clinical laboratory sections and maintains records of examinations and findings
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS:
Level I:
This is the entry level classification in the Clinical Laboratory Scientist series. Work is performed in accordance with established procedures and is reviewed by a supervisor. Promotions to Clinical Laboratory Scientist II are considered on a merit basis, subject to recommendation of the department head and approval by the Director of Human Resources.
Level II:
This is the experienced or journey worker level in the Clinical Laboratory Scientist series. Incumbents in this class perform a full workload of duties and responsibilities and assist in the training of new employees.

Employment Standards:
Level I: Possession of a valid license to practice as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist in the State of California.
OR
Possession of a valid license issued by the State of California limited to specialization in Clinical Chemistry, Clinical Microbiology, or Clinical Immunohematology.
Level II: One (1) year of experience as a licensed scientist, or specially licensed technologist, in a hospital or public health laboratory. Possession of a valid license to practice as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist in the State of California.
OR
Possession of a valid license issued by the State of California limited to specialization in Clinical Chemistry, Clinical Microbiology, or Clinical Immunohematology.

Vernon Avenue), and on Truxtun Avenue (6401 Truxtun Avenue, Suite A-1) As an academic teaching hospital, we are affiliated with UCLA and its David Geffen School of Medicine, with many of our physicians also holding faculty positions at UCLA. Our physician training ranges from three to five years with residencies in internal medicine, surgery, family practice, emergency medicine, obstetrics and gynecology, and psychiatry. We offer an extensive array of services to all regardless of their circumstances. We continue to add new medical technologies, recruit outstanding physicians in new specialties, and further expand our affiliation with UCLA.
