Kenyon College is seeking applications for an Academic Technology Specialist in the Information Technology department of the Library and Information Services division. This is a full-time, permanent, benefit-eligible position.

About the Position: Do Work that Matters!

The Academic Technology Specialist reports to the Technology Support Manager and will interact regularly with other departments to support the mission of the College, collaborating extensively with other members of the IT team. The Academic Technology Specialist is a member of the Information Technology (IT) department that supports computing technology at Kenyon.

The major functional areas for the Academic Technology Specialist include the support and maintenance of campus academic labs, academic laptop pools, and provides support for the licensing, training, and academic software packages. Academic software packages have a special focus in using multimedia software such as the Adobe Creative Cloud Suite, DaVinci Resolve, and music tools such as Avid Pro Tools, Finale and Audacity. The Academic Technology Specialist participates in deploying operating system images, new software patches, and other configuration changes with tools such as Jamf and Intune

IT team members are encouraged and expected to develop and grow their skills to match the needs of the institution, and to help others grow, too. Recognizing that technology is continually changing, the Academic Technology Specialist participates in regular professional development and in the larger professional security community as well.

Minimum Requirements:

We value both education and experience. A successful candidate should be comfortable with technology, be curious, and love to learn. These are the minimum requirements for a successful candidate:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field or a combination of relevant education and experience.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient analytical and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications

These are the preferred qualifications for a successful candidate:

  • Two (2) years of professional experience with management, operation, and support of computing systems, preferably within a higher education environment.
  • Ability and desire to establish and maintain close collaborative relationships with faculty, staff, and students, both as clients and as colleagues.
  • Knowledge of configuration, loading, and troubleshooting software on Mac OS X, Apple iOS, and Windows OS devices.
  • Familiarity with device management tools such as JAMF and InTune.
