QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s Degree in Education required, master’s degree preferred

Michigan Teacher Certification required, highly qualified in mathematics

3-5 Years classroom teaching experience, intervention experience preferred

Preferred experience teaching students in a high-needs school

Previous instructional coaching experience preferred

Experience assessing students’ mathematical skills and using the results to shape effective instructional practice.

Effective communication, collaboration and interpersonal skills for guiding individual teachers and grade level teams to the most effective instructional practices.

IDEAL CANDIDATES WILL HAVE:

Strong desire and ability to achieve and lead outstanding student achievement results

Ability to build meaningful, caring relationships with students and staff to promote rapport and collaboration

Ability to motivate students and staff while guiding staff to shift their behaviors

Capacity to hold and guide ongoing instructional=specific conversations designed to focus and efforts on improving learning.

Commitment to coordinate instruction within and across grade levels to support learning of at risk students.

The math coach will observe classrooms, model lessons, and engage in substantive conversation with teachers regarding instructional strategies.

Will provide engaging professional development workshops for teaching staff.

Ability to analyze coaching tool data to inform instructional decisions for building and teachers

Success will be assessed by student achievement as measured through MSTEP, MWEA, district wide assessments and local building Unit assessments.
